I fill my tank every Sunday when I make my weekly Costco run regardless of where I'm at fuel wise. If all I did that week was go to work and the gym, I'm between 1/2 and 3/4 full, if I had some errands to run during the week I'll be between 1/4 and 1/2 full.

I fill up every time I pass the grocery fuel pumps on my way to and from work if it is convenient to do so and REGARDLESS if I am less than 1/2. Particularly on the Brahhoe, of a 25 gallon tank, bottom 1/2 is 10 gallons, top 1/2 (per gauge, obvi) is 15.
One of my old partners had a father from South Dakota, a farmer, who axiomatically stated "It don't cost no more to run on the top 1/2 of the tank." I agree entirely. You always need a loaded fuel tank at the worst possible time crunch. Be ready. I just fill up my car all the time too because she ALWAYS lets it get close to empty, and that shit me.

Where exactly do you need to go that is more than 1/2 a tank away on a TIME CRUNCH. That's 150 miles for almost any vehicle... or a 3 hr one way trip...Desertbreh wrote: ↑Tue Feb 26, 2019 5:17 pm I fill up every time I pass the grocery fuel pumps on my way to and from work if it is convenient to do so and REGARDLESS if I am less than 1/2. In warmer months I'll let it get down to the warning light. There are 6 or 7 gas stations on my daily commute which is only 6 miles each way so it's never a big deal to get that low. I can easily go 2 weeks between fill-ups that way. In the winter I'll rarely let it get below .25 tank.

Typical examples would be a morning court date in Riverside or the OC, I don't have time to pull off the fking freeway to search around for a gas station that is already crammed with people running on the bottom half of the tank. My point is, I get gas WHEN IT IS CONVENIENT FOR ME, regardless of how full I am. Because it always seems that when I don't have time, I do need gas. And don't give me bean counter argument semantics about 150 miles round trip, etc. etc. I don't worry about gas. Because I always have plenty.max225 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 26, 2019 5:23 pmWhere exactly do you need to go that is more than 1/2 a tank away on a TIME CRUNCH. No wonder you guys don't give a fk about gas tank sizes, since it seems like trips to the gas station are arbitrary based on random rules you make up in your head.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Tue Feb 26, 2019 5:45 pmTypical examples would be a morning court date in Riverside or the OC, I don't have time to pull off the fking freeway to search around for a gas station that is already crammed with people running on the bottom half of the tank. Where are you going to go ? Family members more than 1/2 a tank away will wait 3 hours or 3 hours and 5 min it won't make a damn difference. Prepared for what? What family emergency that doesn't allow for a 5 min gas detour? none of this makes sense.[user not found] wrote: ↑Tue Feb 26, 2019 5:48 pmLet's say the doomsday scenario comes to light. Shit shuts down, pumps jammed with plebs, krebitz locked - what are you gonna do with a tank on E?
Or shit weather, or emergency call from family, etc. I try to be prepared.
Do you have a stockpile of food and water at the house ? Because that seems to matter way more than having a 1/2 tank full during an emergency during which it won't matter anyway since the 's will clog up the roads and it won't matter anyways full tank or half you will die. Unless of course, you built a castle with your own fuel supply etc.

During day in and day out activities:
1. 50 miles or so in range or less
Exceptions to the rule are :
1. Right before road trip if the road trip fuel prices are higher than normal (I5) is an example
2. If going to an area with no fuel stations (Death valley)

Are you superman? What do you need to do in life that doesn't allow you to spend 5 min at a gas station, yet you're willing to take out another 5min out of another arbitrary part of the day because then you're "less busy"Desertbreh wrote: ↑Tue Feb 26, 2019 5:56 pm Getting gas when you are in a hurry sucks. So get it when you are not.
If you have no TIME in life you should get gas the fewest times possible, without doing any damage to your car. That's how you maximize the time. This whole in a "hurry" crock of shit argument doesn't hold water because getting gas at 1/2 a tank WASTES time out of all of your busy schedules, making you MORE BUSY.

I did toast once to the Supra thread, because it's boring as a toaster, and just as forgettable.
This time it wasn't my doing.
Also 1/4 of a tank, I have two gas stations near my house that are pretty easy to access.
The E30 I get it at 1/2 because I go to one station that's out of the way for 92 non-ethanol.
