I do not understand lifting cars. It's really difficult to do safely and without drastically impacting the vehicle's drive. If you want something with more ground clearance, than buy something with more ground clearance.

Outside of an inch or two, I'm not a fan of drastic suspension alterations either. I'm probably going to do a set of take-off Rubicon Recon springs on the JKU with Rubicon shocks for a 1" lift.

I'd be careful there IMO. I wasn't a fan of how my Rubicon handled stock. I'd be looking at the AEV DualSport 2.5 kit if I had a JK.

What's wrong with the stock setup ? The ground clearance on the stock wrangler is like 2" better than the colorado, with far better breakover and approach angles... why lift it ? ?

I don't really want a 2.5" lift. I want to retain stock tires and upgrade to OE Rubicon suspension spec - I'm just curious as to what Dplac didn't like about that.

pretty positive your JK will gain ZERO height swapping to rubicon suspension. They have a different PN on shocks and thats about it. Richie gave me his rubi takeoff but there was zero gain to install it. unless you are replacing worn parts with newer take off, its not even worht the effort.

I can mail you my .5" "level" kit, its the poly insert. I think it was like $30 on amazon. I never installed it.

I thought my Rubicon was rather bouncy on the road and at speed. It required CONSTANT steering adjustment to keep it going straight. Really fatiguing IMO. The AEV kit is supposedly much more composed. I was looking at it hard before I offed my Jeep.

I never drove a non-Rubicon JK, just assumed they were special because of the rock crawling ability (I loved the suspension over rocks). I don't see how Rubicon suspension would be an upgrade in any way shape or form. I think anyone that claims it's better than a sport or whatever i just forumbro

Here is the new JL kit.

Chatting with the dudes at AEV, they employ former FCA ride and handling engineers to dial their suspensions in. NOBODY in the aftermarket does that, and they can use better hardware than OEM because they can charge more for it than the OEM can on "stock" vehicles.

I would only consider AEV parts if I had a Wrangler.

For a lift, this would be a solid option. I loved the Fox suspension I had on my XJ. That stuff is legit.

Yeah the wandering steering was pretty funny. Turn the wheel and literally nothing happens. Mere suggestions to the front wheels, I didn't exactly feel like I was in control of the vehicle. The Sahara seemed to do better at this for whatever reason. I guess I could get over that, but the brakes were legit terrifying. Of the vehicles I've driven in my life, only the 4Runner had worse brakes and I'm pretty sure that's because it was a TuRD Bro that was heavily forumbro'd and likely not working correctly. I have to slam my brakes daily in the city to avoid myriad retarded situations, strong brakes go a long way to feeling secure in the world of shit I live in.
