It’s just so much easier to use a phone camera these days and the drawbacks are slim to none.

Last time I bothered with my DSLR was early December. I took two shots, put it away, and used my phone instead.
Unless you want to print. For just taking snaps, I agree if you have a good phone with a lot of dynamic range they are hard to beat.

I just took a bunch of images in Tennessee on my DSLR and with 45MP I can still print large after some cropping if needed w/o issue.

I ordered a classic (10.8 x 14.4 in), large (15.6 x 20.8 in) and extra large (21.6 x 28.8 in) set of prints from fracture with images from my D750 (24MP) and at close, living room wall distances I see a lack of data on the extra large prints from the D750. If you are back 15+ feet they look fine though, but any cropping or adjustment that removes any PPI will make it worse.

Once the mirrorless market gets a lot better, as in much better than the new "pretty damned good" Sony units I will likely move over. It would be much easier for me if Nikon makes a mirrorless that will use the existing lenses. My biggest complaint on the current mirrorless is the EVF, it needs to be much, much more like looking through the lens for me to be comfortable with a camera that hits 10+ FPS.

Nikon and Canon just ain’t on the same level as Sony. It’s sad.
Depends. Until a couple weeks ago Sony was an unknown since they didn't have any pro lenses and everyone was forced to buy Canon lenses and use adapters. Now they have some lenses, but they aren't cheap and you are buying into a system that could be dropped next year if the wind direction changes. It's risky.

The one constant with DSLRs was that if you bought good lenses, you really wouldn't lose any significant money there.. I have sold 5-7 year old AF-S lenses that were fast for 90% of the cost when new. I think the full frame mirrorless market is going to go crazy this year when Nikon and Canon bring their A-game. Then, in about 2 years the winner(s) will be clearly defined and it will be an okay time to invest in gear.

When I was at the Country Music Hall of Fame last week I ran into a dude with a Leica mirrorless and a couple lenses... LOL, $15k in camera, 2 lenses and a flash.... that's dedication.
