this thing would be a riot.
Wish I could.
Once the bathroom reno is paid off around April or so at our current pace I might be able to convince the wife we can afford a weekend toy, but not before then.
I went check it out last night coming home from our Autocross Board meeting. It's clean as hell other than the front bumper. Starts good and sounds decent. Exhaust needs to get swapped and the coilovers and knock offs, but he's got all the stock parts so I'm probably going to raise the coilovers up a bit to give it some flex for autocross and look at different wheels. Might shoot him an offer within the next couple of days. With the cash from the bike I paid off a couple of bills, so if I buy this for his asking price I won't have anything left in the bank. So I'm trying to move money around to be able to make a cash offer. Not definitive yet, but it's leaning that way.

As the only published author in a well-known motorcycle publication in the room...

I want a 991. That would be awesome.
Buy a garage first.
I know.
JL might be the ticket. Gotta see what the new Rav is like first. Those two could have enough staying power to last me a few years of automatic transmission derping through baghdad. If I can't have fun driving where I live now, might as well get something that'll take me more places easier. I don't find much else to be interesting at all.

I think a Rav Adventure is the proper ticket for you. Just my moran driving opinion.
Air cooled or bust... BEST CAR IN THE WORLD. SUCH TACTILE FEEDBACK, SCULPTED BY THE HAND OF GOD
I'm sure they're fun. But. Cars are so isolated now, that a 1992 Camry would feel like it has a lot of tactile feedback.
I don't know man, lack of isolation is what is bothering you about your STI isn't it ? My m3 is not that "isolated" either. I think its just a load of crap to be honest. Modern cars are better than anything that was ever built in the past in every god damn way.
