If she wants an SUV thing a Rav4 or maybe Forester.troyguitar wrote: ↑Mon Jun 25, 2018 12:53 pm I'd ordinarily suggest a used mazda3 hatch in that range since mazdas depreciate like BMWs, but realistically it is terribly inefficient in its packaging and she isn't going to care about the fact that it drives better than most stuff. A city-dwelling business owner is pretty much the perfect use case for a Fit. SUV cargo space while fitting in sub-compact parking spaces and costing $15k new.

Their cargo is and the way you set up seats are well thought out

City, brah. You can get a decent condition 2nd gen for under $10k. Not the current gen. And at those prices, a Rav4 might make more sense. We will see though.

New MSRP is only $15k, you can't get a 3 year old used one for $10k?Johnny_P wrote:City, brah. You can get a decent condition 2nd gen for under $10k. Not the current gen. And at those prices, a Rav4 might make more sense. We will see though.

Shit's stupid dude. But it is what it is. They command a serious premium on the used market for no real reason. They're shitboxes but everyone looks up to them like and plunks down the when they could have bought a better vehicle for less.troyguitar wrote: ↑Mon Jun 25, 2018 3:13 pmNew MSRP is only $15k, you can't get a 3 year old used one for $10k?Johnny_P wrote:

I vote that you subsidize her to make her share of the payment on a new $15k fit $199 then... You're rich, will you notice $100 more a month?

Haven't driven a new one but I've logged many miles in a first gen and it's slow but fun, great car IMO.Detroit wrote:Indeed. The drive is just terrible, but she won't care about that.

First gen and second gen Sport were fantastic. Wife had a second gen base auto when we met and it was terrible. I couldn’t wait to get rid of it. That’s the one JPs girl would go after.
Probably fine for her. Michele loved hers. I just couldn’t stand the engine and trans. Way too lethargic and anemic.

I imagine it's rather with the automatic. She has zero interest in learning to drive stick. But then again she doesn't give a shit about speed and power anyway. Her Tiguan is "scary" when it revs over 3k and goes into turbo boost. Then again she did call a Crosstrek "really slow" back in the day when she was using Zipcar.

Yeah I don't know what it is about those 5AT's but man they kill the revvy nature of the engine and just turn it into blender noise without any additional forward progress.Detroit wrote: ↑Mon Jun 25, 2018 4:09 pmFirst gen and second gen Sport were fantastic. With the it is actually quite ok in terms of speed around 8 seconds 0-60 is the auto that much worse?Johnny_P wrote: ↑Mon Jun 25, 2018 4:12 pmYeah I don't know what it is about those 5AT's but man they kill the revvy nature of the engine and just turn it into blender noise without any additional forward progress.Detroit wrote: ↑Mon Jun 25, 2018 4:09 pm
