I'd ordinarily suggest a used mazda3 hatch in that range since mazdas depreciate like BMWs, but realistically it is terribly inefficient in its packaging and she isn't going to care about the fact that it drives better than most stuff. A city-dwelling business owner is pretty much the perfect use case for a Fit. SUV cargo space while fitting in sub-compact parking spaces and costing $15k new.

Yep Fit and Prius are high on the list for me. Maybe Hyundai Elantra Touring. If she wants an SUV thing a Rav4 or maybe Forester.

Just avoid koreans unless you want to lose bumpers by parkbyfeelers.

City, brah. You can get a decent condition 2nd gen for under $10k. Not the current gen. And at those prices, a Rav4 might make more sense. We will see though.

Haven't driven a new one but I've logged many miles in a first gen and it's slow but fun, great car IMO.

First gen and second gen Sport were fantastic. Wife had a second gen base auto when we met and it was terrible. I couldn’t wait to get rid of it. That’s the one JPs girl would go after.

Probably fine for her. Michele loved hers. I just couldn’t stand the engine and trans. Way too lethargic and anemic.

I imagine it's rather with the automatic. She has zero interest in learning to drive stick. But then again she doesn't give a shit about speed and power anyway. Her Tiguan is "scary" when it revs over 3k and goes into turbo boost. Then again she did call a Crosstrek "really slow" back in the day when she was using Zipcar.

With the it is actually quite ok in terms of speed around 8 seconds 0-60 is the auto that much worse?
