(See Rockefeller, 9/11 monuments, a show, etc.) I could use some hotel recommendations. Naturally, we are looking to be as close/in Manhattan as possible but under $250 a night would be ideal.

Send me your recommendations!
The Casablanca, just off Times Square, used be in that price range. :notsure: now :doe: , but it's worth checking out. It was a pretty nice place.

This surprises me a bit, unless it really changed in the last decade or so. Where did you stay, what arrondissement?
That was part of it, we stayed near Gare de Lyon which wasn't that nice of an area.... and don't get me wrong, it was fun. It was really cool to see the famous stufflike Notre Dame, Louvre, Eiffel Tower... but compared to a place like Lucerne, Brugge, Amsterdam? It doesn't come anywhere close. It was the only city where we were constantly bothered by guys selling useless nonsense, homeless all over, trash around. The river dinner cruise thing was wonderful though.

I'd categorize Paris with New York. It's one of those must see in your lifetime places, but once you get it out of the way, there's no reason to go back often. Chicago, for example is a place that I would much rather spend a weekend than NYC, having been to both many times. But if you were on your last year on this planet, had never been to either, and only had time for one, go to New York.
Interesting, and fair. I think a lot of it had to do with where you stayed, as you said. Different areas are like little towns unto themselves in a way. We usually stay in the Latin Quarter, which is in the 5th arrondissement. It's got a bit of a different, cool feel to it there and you can still walk to everywhere you'd want to. I fully agree with your Chicago/NYC analogy, too.

My experience with the adapters with multiple functions is sub par. Just get the most simple one you can find. Those all country 214824 different selections are a pain.
These look good. 3 pack for $10. I assume my devices are 220 compatible. They're relatively new.

I'm speaking just of Europe, I should point out. And for that awesome place you really only need 2 adapters. One with the 2 round prongs for the continent and the bigger, clunkier 3 squared off prongs for the UK.
Yasss, i know what youre talking about. That big boner like pole thing. But England also has regular Euro/Turkey plugs as well. Presumably due to people visiting from Europe.

Gberg2119 wrote: Wed Jun 06, 2018 8:56 pm So I'm going on a vacation to Paris later in the summer which means I need a power adapter. I'm only taking my phone and tablet over. Should I use an adapter with just 2 USB's or should I go for the one with 2 sockets? Will quick charge work for my phone over there when just charging over USB?

Anyone have a good one they've used?

Ceptics CTU-9C USA to Most of Europe Travel Adapter Plug With Dual USB - Type C - Ultra Compact https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N14AV3K/re ... gBbD7B596X

Ceptics World Travel Adapter Kit - 2 USB + 2 US Outlets, Surge Protection, Plug for Europe, UK, China, Australia, Japan - Perfect for Laptop, Cell Phones (Does Not Convert Voltage) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XSJ14CX/re ... gBbT9DNRC2
For usb use, I use this to charge my phone, gopro, or anything that comes with usb for charging. Comes with all kinds of adaptors all over the world. It does charge quick too

thanks :wasteful: ! It's a pretty neat place to experience. As I said, a long weekend, 3, maybe 4 days, is perfect. Its pretty cool to experience a total lack of cars and motorcycles. The peace and quiet are :amaze: . There are plenty of nice places to stay other than the Grand. We stayed at a place called Mission Point, which was pretty 5/7.

Regarding the bolded, you do have to be ok with the sight and smell of horse :poop: . The horses don't wear diapers so there are plenty of road apples. But there are people who pick it up pretty quickly so it's not that big a deal. Also, there are tons of places to rent bikes so :wasteful: would like it even more for that.

But allowed miles were really low and it's rather expensive to go over on them so :meh:
Also gravel roads where I hope to go
