When did I say treat you like shit? I was saying there is not enough time spent to make any sort of connection with a person that you may or may not see once a year for 5 min at the most if that.

I can't say VW's response is exactly unexpected, being that any possible negligence is on JD and not corporate. But it sucks and I'm sorry you have to go through this, Craig.

Talk to GM, bring up how much you've spent, how you've recommended them to friends and family, used them for tuning because you trusted them, etc, been a customer for years. That you feel they set you up for failure by not adequately looking into the fueling CEL after working on the car's fueling system, etc.

See what they come back with. I bet they offer to cover at least some of it. If you want to keep the car go HAM on the repair I guess but in that case I'd be looking seriously at a used engine. But I'd probably just do a band aid fix with the one camshaft and dump the car to carmax or whoever takes it.

The question is... what is actually BROKEN on the car... other than the cam... and what CAUSED the cam to break is still unanswered by professionals not random keyboard warriors.

Dealer is replacing fuel pump, presumably because it seized. But IDK because that's not even driven off the same camshaft that broke!

bullshit aside... did I miss the part where the HPFP is listed as seized and was already replaced ? I legit don't :member: reading any of that outside of the codes that were thrown.

No, but they said they'd "replace it under warranty" as soon as the car came in with a broken crangshaft. Why else would they do that if it wasn't borked?

No word on it actually being seized because the dealership is keeping quiet on that part, but they said they'd replace it under warranty :notsure: while doing this other work.

When your car is under warranty, it is my job to fix your car as cheaply as possible for the manufacturer. It's my livelihood to turn that 10-15 minutes spent with a customer into a good relationship. It's a two way street. I remember customers that engage with me... even if it's cheating and leaving notes for myself in the future on their file in the DMS.

If an advisor doesn't give you enough time, ask for it. If (s)he won't offer up your time, ask for someone that will. If you have an issue with your car, it usually takes more than 5 minutes to fully document the concern, generate an RO and get everything started up.

VW stating that certain 2011-13 2.0L TFSI Engine cars are being
called in for an ECM Software Update. Under certain conditions, the output signal from the ECM
to the in-tank fuel pump may reduce fuel supply pressure to the fuel rail, which result in a
DTC code P0087 (Fuel Rail/System Pressure-Too low Bank 1) to be stored in the ECM. A vehicle
with this condition will not pass an IM (emissions) inspection.
This is why... it is covered by emissions warranty.

Superb attitude. I make a very serious effort to engage the team working on my car, from the SA to the mech to the folks taking care of the paperwork at the end and paying my bill. I want their attention and they deserve mine, so as to educate me on their process to take care of the car I care about. Its my job to understand what they are telling me about my car and their job. It helps me understand what is being done since I am paying for it.
I have made incredible friends doing this and its something I do naturally. If you are not engaging in this way you are missing out. I thank everyone I meet, as I imagine they are busy doing what needs to be done and Im happy they take good care of my machine!
