I ended up getting the “aerospace protectant” one. Will report backDavestr wrote: ↑Sat Mar 17, 2018 6:27 amBuy just about any tire 'shine' and let it sit. Wipe it down with a dry cloth to get the excess off. It will remain black but not nearly as shiny. With as little moisture as you face the color should remain black. Use a bit of the same product as a touch up once every couple a weeks to avoid the dis-coloration and keep the nice 'black' but not shiny look. Works for me....
Dat detailing thread, doe.

I’ve used sonax wheel cleaner full effect/plus for years. It’s amazing. Works great on painted calipers too.

Ironx is the most disgusting smell ever.

What's the name of that interior cleaner that doesn't leave the oily high gloss finish? Seems to getting a question but I figured I'd ask.
I had some that got lost in the move.
Nevermind. Found it my Amazon order history

It's what I use. Can't stand that Armor-all sheen.

I use it, too. Good stuff, and it doesn't smell turrible.[user not found] wrote: ↑Mon Apr 02, 2018 10:53 am

Question; do you spray it on the surface you're cleaning, then wipe it off with a microfiber, or do you spray it directly on the microfiber then wipe the surface with it?

So I used Sonax on my M3... the results weren't as great, you certainly have to go over the wheels with either a mit, or a cloth after doing the spray.
The "brake dust" didn't just come off with water. So i am if I'll use it again as simply wiping down the wheels with a wet rag accomplishes as similar result.

It cleans touch screens very well.[user not found] wrote: ↑Mon Apr 02, 2018 1:05 pmDepends on where I'm spraying. Door panels, I spray it on. Dashboard I spray onto the microfiber first, since I don't want to get it on the windshield or small screens.

The STi has pretty significant levels of brake dust, so I do the following -max225 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 02, 2018 1:22 pm So I used Sonax on my M3... the results weren't as great, you certainly have to go over the wheels with either a mit, or a cloth after doing the spray.

- Spray the wheels and tires with Chemical Guys Honeydew Snow Foam from my foam cannon and rinse
- Apply Sonax Full Effect wheel cleaner to all four rims
- By the time all four are sprayed, I use a brush like this - https://www.detailersdomain.com/product ... ling-brush - in its own bucket to clean the barrels and between the spokes, then take a dedicated wash mitt and clean the faces of the wheels.
- Use an Adam's wheel brush to clean the tires - https://adamspolishes.com/adam-s-short-wheel-brush.html
- Rinse everything and voila, shiny BBSs
...for a day

I never understood the need for "interior dash cleaners" etc, what could possibly be there remnants of a happy meal ? A damp rag always cleans it up well for me and introduces 0 shine etc.

unfortunately, the spokes on my wheels are so thin that the brush won't help Also the design of the wheels is odd, where I have ot reach into the spokes to clean a wheel face. that otherwise collects dust.coogles wrote: ↑Mon Apr 02, 2018 1:47 pmThe STi has pretty significant levels of brake dust, so I do the following -max225 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 02, 2018 1:22 pm So I used Sonax on my M3... the results weren't as great, you certainly have to go over the wheels with either a mit, or a cloth after doing the spray.

Good braking performance unfortunately almost always introduces a bit of dust.
I used some of that nextzett gummi pflege stuff on my rubber trim over the weekend and it was great. The rubber was kind of gray beforehand and it turned it back to black.

Ok, I do that, too. Just wanted to make sure it was Zil-approved.[user not found] wrote: ↑Mon Apr 02, 2018 1:05 pmDepends on where I'm spraying. Door panels, I spray it on. Dashboard I spray onto the microfiber first, since I don't want to get it on the windshield or small screens.
Anyone try that new meguiars all wheel cleaner? The Eagle One A2Z stuff shot up in price on Amazon so I figured I'll try something new. Always thought about trying Sonax but it's expensive for only a 17oz bottle and it's not a tire cleaner.
Are individual wheel/tire cleaners better than a combo one or does it make no difference?

I ordered the new stuff. It's Meguiars Ultimate All Wheel Cleaner so it might be okay. The other Ultimate products are decent. If it sucks I'll try out that wheel brightener.
