easy ish to fix, might be fuel pressure related, might be due to physical interference IN the engine.
Ask them if they scoped all cylinders. if not, demand it. If blast media from your carbon cleaning got in there it could cause this along with other damage.
Not a bad idea, but wouldn't expect a cam to break due piston/valve contact. But if there is piston to valve contact I suppose it's possible.
agree, but its free to ask and better than paying thousands to fix this crap just to find bent valves later.

I spoke to the manager yesterday afternoon and told him I was not paying anything, and that my car left with a check engine light. I guess they opened the car up, they just sent me a video of it. Apparently, my exhaust camshaft broke off. That is the issue. Not the engine! I don't know much this will cost. Before I call them back, is it possible that the fuel pressure issues caused this?
Camshaft is typically in the engine. Right where those valves are situated. Did a chunk of something fall into a bearing during the cleaning?
I was resisting.

Yes it's a cool car. But prepare the lube/sawdust.
Jokes jokes jokes. No seriously I'd dump the car. Get a civic hatch.
That would be my advice. Fix if you can and drive straight to CarMax and sell.
If only Mazada had the turbos here is tell him to go there. So underpowered right meow
Yeah. If there were a current MS3 I'd have just bought that instead of my rally sedan. The regular 3S is just.... IDK it's not slow but just not a very exciting engine or acceleration. It's fine.
But seriously this car seems like it's a complete pile like mine was. Getting rid of that piece of shit was liberating.

Holy fucking
Exhaust camshaft drives the fuel pump in the TSI engine.
Pepper your angus, dude.
Engine wouldn't run at all with a broken cam shaft
Where are these mangos?

I don't understand anything anymore.

If you look at the way it borked, it seems to still be in place. I wonder why other lights weren't triggered except for an occasional flash of the CEL.
Holy hell...how does a camshaft break? Further, how does the engine run with it somehow broken.

My guess would be that Chris took some time off because he has read the dialogue on this page 1,345 times and decided to spend some of his free time doing something besides beating a horse to death.
