Can you explain the want for a rx? I don’t get it....
I like the way they look
Really really nice interiors on the new ones
Supposedly extremely quiet at speed
Simple tried and true old NA engine and a well sorted 8AT and AWD, nothing to break on this, no torque steer, plenty of traction, 0-60 in low 7's isn't bad
Known for good ride quality and durability
CUV suspension travel will gobble up potholes but still stay somewhat composed in turns where a BOF SUV will just roll and flop
Will handle all the "off roading" I'll ever do which would be gravel roads at most which the STI can do
Supposedly really good sound systems
Multi mode dampers available if you want that

They're a little large though. And probably won't age well. And comparatively poor gas mileage but it is what it is at least it runs on regular so probably less fuel cost than my car, lol.

I dunno it just seems like a really well sorted reliable comfy package. I also like the Benzo GLC but the combo of a 2.0T, 9AT, and GERMAN has me :yikes: for long term ownership prospects.
Well I have some experience with these.
Yes they run quiet
Yes they are decent inside
Yes the engine dates back to 2003

But they handle like garbage they are very too heavy, I could never understand why. My stepmoms q5 is far more car like.

No it won’t be cheap to own, Lexus has a lot of bespoke parts that can get pricy. I suppose if you get a cpo model you’re good to go, but if you go a bit older you will have occasional issues that aren’t super cheap to fix.

I still think there are some better cars for giving up on life than that. For a girl yes, for a dude it is an odd vehicle to have

404 want not found on any RX. I'd rather just ride around in a pod.

Holy shit. Might be worth the ask. Despite the mileage because of how pristine it was kept.

I love the way these look. But that 18 month maintenance isn’t an anomaly in these. They will rape your wallet.

165k on the chassis and trans. Better budget for a trans replacement.
217 HP V8 :lolol:
0-60 10 seconds if working correctly
12 MPG city, 16 highway

$13k is a bit much for this. It should be around $7k. But it does have some nice modifications, seems to have been kept decently well, engine rebuild is a good thing, etc. Gotta remember this was a $39k SUV in 2003, about equal to a $55k SUV now. So it'll have $55k SUV upkeep costs, RR tax, etc.

Would be interesting to check out. This would be a great overlanding vehicle if you lived somewhere you could do that sort of thing.

But since asking price is rather equal, the 4Runner you posted earlier is the FAR better pick as it's about 500x less likely to strand you on a mountain pass.

I would 4Runner 5 out of 7 times over that LR, especially that 4Runner. Hell, I have thoughts about how to pick up that 4Runner now... :plac:

The ONLY hold back on that 4R... no mention of any trans or diff fluid changes. First owner drove it with an intermittent CEL and sticking caliper, bad wheel bearing, etc. So first owner was a :derp: to cars but kept it clean and no rust because Florida.

Second owner here goes full :troywax: on repairs and after spending a shitload gives up after 4 months and gets a newer 5th gen. :butwhy: Just flipping it? Or sick of chasing shit? His wife get annoyed and think it's unreliable? Or is there more stuff wrong like trans slipping/lurching or a diff whining?

It would need a good test drive and inspection for sure. I don't want to be chasing gremlins all the time.

Honestly, the 200H was a great driving car. If they threw a 2.0T and :manuel: in it, it would have been a proper hot hatch. Shame.

The gray one looks like a pretty good buy. Sport Chrono package is good for throttle response.

Always thought these were good looking and deserved a better engine. But alas it’s a more normal looking Prius with a normal interior and normal gauges. Really the best way to get a Prius if that’s what you want. Would probably be great for the city.
