So my door lock mechanism is officially broken. I had a few times where the door wouldn't close because the mechanism locked itself after I opened the door and the door just bounced off the car. i may have to take it in for this issue.
I also cannot open the door with the door handle from the inside. Sweet 59k MSRP bmw bro

So I guess I'll use this thread as my home base... for my feature
My lease is done in 3 months, I have 2800 miles left so it'll be perfect. Now I need to start planning for my next car...
1. Do nothing and drive the brokenish crown vic and save money ( )
2. Pick up an older C/3 series and drive it as a DD, however nice ones are hard to find, depreciation is still significant, and repairs are troublesome and pricy.
3. Pick up a new cheap/fun car... ala Civic (Si, sport) GTI, but not really looking to spend well over 20k... so price is a factor since this will likely be a car I drive for 12-18 months tops.
4. Special order a heep for around June/July derivery, perhaps even a bit later... and special order to get a 19' Model year for sep time frame (which would be a loooooong time from now)
What do you guys think? Anything else I am missing?
I have a shortish commute for now, and no real needs for anything in particular. However my employment may change in June... so I have to make sure it remains a vehicle that can be city parked, as i may be moving to a real city...

Keep that BMW for 12-18 months. Is that an option?? I dont like the Jeep option. Sorry but thats stupid money and will get you an M2 used. M2's are realistically in the 48's now or less depending on miles. They are not super rare anymore. M3 is expensive even as a lease.
Realistically the GTi, not loaded, as a daily for your 12-18 months. Yep the lights are not great but its a solid sporting ride overall. If you test a Civic then the GTI the VW will win. Plus the new GTI is not a Mk6 at all. What city are we talking about? In Cali??

Likely SF, that's my 12-18 months plan, maybe sooner.Davestr wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2017 3:11 pm Keep that BMW for 12-18 months. Is that an option?? I dont like the Jeep option. M2s are just as expensive as a wrangler, and I simply don't see an M2 as something that is worth 20k over my current 335i. It is far too similar of a vehicle to me.

The payments are very high ($750-800+ Fuel+reg ~1100 total) , and I am worried about owning something that expensive... the total costs will likely be 50% higher compared to my already not to cheap $700 a month BMW (gas, ins, payment).

Like a C300 would be good... anything with the older model V6, but nice examples are HARD to find and around $10-12k which is pricy for something that will be 5-6k in 2 years.

The other thing I am considering is perhaps leasing an I3 (takeover) for DD'ing purposes and then getting a poverty 4x4. however finding a good poverty vehicle has been rough... and I don't want two cars...

I loved the older C350 I drove. Felt like an old man car I guess but god damn was that thing smooth in both suspension compliance and power. Just had a wave of power and zero lag or bullshit to put up with. Handled great, sounded good, shifts were imperceptible, etc. I didn't pursue it because it was $14k or something and had a CEL and info screen said it needed service "B" whatever that is.

Yea MB does service A, B. One is basically oil change and the other one requires fiters+oil. Very DIY friendly and simple actually.Johnny_P wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2017 4:15 pmI loved the older C350 I drove. I'd rock a C350 in the older body style. But they are 15-20k ...

This was an 18 though... no 17s in stock anywhere... because I suppose.
Local VW dealers have a few 17 GTI's in stock best I have seen here is 5k off. So that'll be 24 vs 22k still worth it it seems.

Lets see if I can articulate why I don't like the 4 runner.
1. I don't like the styling, it is fairly hideous.
2. ancient tech
3. Older toyotas can be had with the same powertrain for 1/3 of the price

Something as such is pretty much the same shit as new. I see exactly 0 advantages of a new one.

Can't you get a GX for less than a 4R?max225 wrote:Lets see if I can articulate why I don't like the 4 runner.
