They probably spray painted the frame black and called it good. Hah. Seems these guys make a living off finding and re-selling 3rd gen 4runners so maybe they did it right. Who knows.

If you regularly wash the salt off underneath during the winter, a truck won't rust. You just need to find someone that cares that much.

If you want a 3rd gen 4R, hard to beat this one.

Yep, my buddy in CA had a 99, and it rode horribly. But any 90's to mid-00's 4x4 will. It's the name of the game.
It'll ride better than a car over the craters we call roads, doe.

Maybe. My work exploder rides like a dump truck too and it's a 2006-ish. Current F150s we have ride so much smoother. Really my car rides kind of similar to the exploder but doesn't bottom out like that pos does and with less impact harshness.
I think I really want a current gen 4R but they're so much money.

IDK I don't think that's a better buy than the $5k sled I posted earlier. Fewer miles, but it'll need the timing belt and water pump and all which has already been done on the other one that costs half as much.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Tue Dec 19, 2017 8:02 pmIf you want a 3rd gen 4R, hard to beat this one.

Besides that, at $10k you can get a 4th gen with a V8.

Sure the front is a little dopey but the aftermarket can take care of that with a steel bumper.
and you get the torque monster 8 cylinder. That motor is probably more reliable than the 3.4 which has head gasket problems.

That's what happens at a mall. BTW I drove one of these... I have to say it was super smooth, but gargantuan. I simply couldn't find any reason to pick it over a 4 runner.Johnny_P wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2017 4:08 pm https://newyork.craigslist.org/lgi/cto/ ... 89404.html

They also get 13/16 mpg... which is frankly abysmal. I know it is when it comes to suvs but this thing will hurt .
