Everyone wants the discount. That blinds them to getting raped on trade ins and such. It's a great smoke and mirrors tactic that tricks people into forgiving other shit.Detroit wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2017 5:20 pmFalse.
Subaru spent 5.9% (as a % of MSRP) while the industry spend 13% on average. In fact, Subaru spent the least out of mainstream brands. Toyota spent 10.7% and Honda spent 8.2%.
Subaru ATP was 22k average, while the industry was 31k. They also don't have any vehicles larger than midsize to drive up the ATP...which is even more amazing that spending is so low because nobody wants smaller cars these days.
Subaru's flat performance despite the madness of everyone else is No way around that. Regardless of MSRP correction or whatever you want to blame, people are driven by s lately. There's something to be said for inflating MSRP and discounting down to drive sales it seems but Subaru doesn't have to do that.

I made a statement that subaru MSRPs are closer to transaction prices because they don't inflate them.
Unlike what happens at the big 3 and trucks, where you basically have 5-12k sitting on the hood on the average transaction.
If scion was still around their % of discount to MSRP would be comparable, similar business models.
Subaru doesn't do MSRP creep anywhere near where others are, who then proceedto discount back down and inflate that % unnecessarily so.
Case in Point
4dr Man WRX STI $34,095.00 / N/A MSRP in 2012
4dr Man WRX STI $35,195 / N/A MSRP in 2017
2012 camaro MSRP $23,280
2012 camaro MSRP $25,905
TRUKS are far worse.
But yea fake news cuz Subaru is the car of the gods.

It's like that argument that he refuses to pay MSRP because he ALWAYS GOT A DISCOUNT yet the cars with the discount are depreciating far faster than those sold at sticker. So really MSRP is truly irrelevant in the ownership equation.Johnny_P wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2017 5:26 pmEveryone wants the discount. That blinds them to getting raped on trade ins and such. 30k car sold at MSRP is worth 25k in a few years... 5k true cost
30k sold at 3k discount worth 20k in a few years.... 7k true cost
Subarus are nearly always in the first category.

Rudy, aren't you the broham who was going to be polizei? And now you are getting a SRT 392 and a Golf ARRR?
Tell us about your new inheritance, trust fund, new position in the drug trade/and/or bribes, sugar momma, etc.. Inquiring minds want to know how you're starting off the month $2000 in the hole on car payments and insurance.

I think we all misread his "too" to mean "in addition to an SRT 392", while he actually meant it as a different option instead of theDesertbreh wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2017 6:34 pmRudy, aren't you the broham who was going to be polizei? And now you are getting a SRT 392 and a Golf ARRR?

$3k a month in pay, with parentals covering off on some basic things, leaves about 3k for food and cars.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2017 6:34 pmRudy, aren't you the broham who was going to be polizei? And now you are getting a SRT 392 and a Golf ARRR?

In terms of slapping a light on top of your personal car to dash in and destroy some drug lords with a hail of gunfire and smoke, the SRT 392 is the clear choice.
