That's not a bad strategy really. For us, we used to have a $1k deductible, but when we switched our home and auto insurance to AAA our combined savings was over $800/year with the $500 deductible and car rental coverage added in (which we didn't have before). Going up to $1k deductible only saved us a few more doll hairs so we figured why not just leave it at $500?

I still can't find insurance that can bundle and save me money. Progressive auto and state farm home is the cheapest I can find.

What about Allstate or Farmers or AAA? Or someone small and local?
