we don't have one... my inner is exploring some older options... either way here is some fascinating things i have found on the webs...
Look at this shit... 1932... Ford investing the cheap V8 because 'Murica.
These guys are already doing things like
durability testing... frame flexing... all kinds of shit.
Dealers are offering some cheap service for the 's
Really fascinating. One may think that things have CHANGE SO MUCH BRUH... but they also haven't. Truly fascinating watch.

Old school performance cars do little for me ... as they have about same performance as a modern hatch. But I think they just have so much style and presence, also amazing interiors with tons of space.

I always loved the 2nd gen Continental. Would be an awesome Sunday cruise car. Other than that I've got a sweet spot for old Alfas that would probably be hell to actually own.
Like this sweet GTV 2000.

The sounds, the smells, the feelings.
Something about an old Porsche flat six that makes your neck hairs stand on end. Or an older Ferrari. Older engines just... sounded magical.

Pretty sure his DSG GTI is faster, lol. BUT. This car is pretty rad. It makes all the right sounds, the shifter is gated and impossibly hard to use, you can't adjust the steering wheel and as such basically bash your knuckles into the top of the gauge binnacle, you sit stupid low and really reclined, it's an unnatural driving position, and the handling is best described as "scary."
It really feels like to push this thing at all you need a serious pair of balls. It feels special.

of all the races I've gone to, the vintage one was the best hands down. The cars sound incredible, even the 4 bangers, they're slow, and no TC and old suspension systems mean they get squirrely under braking and slide a bit on the turns. Very entertaining to watch. Also. They really push the hell out of the cars, it's impressive.[user not found] wrote: ↑Mon Sep 04, 2017 10:45 pm Also, anyone here should make their way to their closest vintage GP.

I love to look at and hear old cars, but that's where it stops. Been there, done that.

that's a timeless design, even for this day.[user not found] wrote: ↑Mon Sep 04, 2017 8:29 pm One of my favorites:
Ferrari 250 GT Lusso.
Had a matchbox model of this as a kid, just clean lines. Always loved Ferrari's GT cars.

I loved watching Gone in 60 Seconds when I was a kid, and this car would probably conclude as my favorite classic.
I also really like the BMW 2002, Renault Alpine, older 911's, Chevy Nova's and Chevelle's.

Those really do sound great when they're wound out. I once read a description of a wailing Ferrari as sounding like tearing burlap.
So, what were the dyno results of your friend's car? Stock or...?

X-ost Maranello muffler but stock otherwise. 213 WHP, 175 ft-lb on a dynojet.

Ha! So basically stock numbers. A wee bit more HP and less torque.
How far we've come when a 4-banger hot hatch with non-class leading hp is basically more powerful than a 48 valve V8 super car from only 30 years ago, not to mention more comfortable, better handling, and orders of magnitute safer.

Take a look at CLA 45 AMG now, 300 hp out of a 4 banger. We have come a long way.wap wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2017 11:29 amHa! So basically stock numbers. A wee bit more HP and less torque.

Yeah its not fast. Really his MK6 is probably just as quick.wap wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2017 11:29 amHa! So basically stock numbers. A wee bit more HP and less torque.

This is why old cars are mostly stupid propositions. New cars are faster, more reliable, better built, quieter, handle better....
Thing is, the 308 feels really special when you're driving it. It's not the best to drive overall, but the theater this car puts on is incredible and very entertaining.
I liked the Cayman a hell of a lot more though.
