Took her out three times this morning before I left and she went all three times, so hopefully today is better for her and she's more comfortable.

It was super frustrating. Got super mad at her, then when I was trying lift later I felt like shit about that, and then when I got in bed and found the piss, I felt even worse, since I really think she was doing everything because she had to pee so bad.Big Brain Bradley wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2017 11:50 amdang that sucks mang.SAWCE wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2017 11:39 am Got home from work yesterday and Ava had gone through the trash, chewed up the little plate that screws into my camera to attach it to a tripod, and chewed three different pairs of shoes.. Made sure to get them over to the park for an hour last night, and take them on a quick walk this morning. Hopefully she has a better day today.

I think I could be productive in a 15-20 hour work week. But after that im on amazon, forums, or youtube.

@Detroit,
I found this deal on Travelocity. Almost booked a trip to Prague for a bit cheaper but found out at the last minute that a museum that we didn't get to see the last time we were there is closed for renovation for another year and Berlin was sort of in the back of our minds so I checked it out, did some research on the hotels offered, and found the deal I mentioned last night. Adding another night would have been another ~$150 or so, FYI. Traveling in the off season is really key to finding deals.
Is it more spendy to fly out of Detroit than O'Hare?
That is one thing you have going for you, O'Hare has a ton of international flights, that probably helps with cost, especially in the off-season.wap wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2017 12:14 pm@Detroit,

Charlotte has nonstop flights to eight or so European cities, but they tend to be expensive.

Detroit can be WAY more than O'Hare. We could fly out of O'Hare, but then you have to add the cost of parking, gas, and possibly lodging. The last thing I want to do after landing from an 11 hour flight is drive 4 hours in the car, so the cost savings is much less.wap wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2017 12:14 pm@Detroit,

We'll need to check Travelocity and other sites. Infamous was tracking prices and went full when she saw them going up. She pulled the trigger on round trip from Detroit to Frankfurt on Delta in Comfort+ for $2,200. I felt we could have done better, but she was worried it was going to get worse or flights/hotels would book up.
I want to do better for our next trip. We want to do the once a year to europe plan as well.

My dog had explosive diarrhea that got all over the walls and carpet again. Two days in a row. It's hard to not get mad in a situation like that, but she looked super pathetic and had tried to cover it up and all (thankfully she was in the crate when this happened).SAWCE wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2017 11:56 amIt was super frustrating. It's been a while since she destroyed something. I guess the last thing she destroyed was the dishwasher and about 5 plates/bowls lol when her collar got stuck on the rack and she panicked. Now she's scared shitless of the dishwasher and runs away and hides when we open it.
Sounds like Ava's chewing was because she was stressed that she peed where she wasn't supposed to and knew it and that got her nervous. Some dogs bite their legs and stuff when that happens. My dog sulks and gets mopey. lol.

Oh yea, your'e right. The humidity over there is much less than DC area in the summer, for sure.MexicanYarisTK wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2017 9:59 amIt is, but not as humid as the mid-atlantic summers. Some nights, by the seaside, it does get little chilly enough to wear 2 layers.
I have been to Germany during summer as layover, it's definitely not not enough to wear one layer

Oh, for the whole year, yes. I thought you meant just for this one trip.troyguitar wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2017 10:02 amSo you're at around $5k for the year (like I guessed) plus a free cruise, no?wap wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2017 11:27 pm
1 Euro trip/year. The cruise was mom spending our inheritance. She is 86 and wanted to take her kids/grandkids on a (possibly last) trip. It cost us $50 I think because we bought an internet package and didn't expect mom to pay for that.
The road trip was a 3 day weekend (2 nights in hotels) that cost <$400 all in. We're taking a longer road trip later this summer but that should come in way less than $1500 all in. Then Germany in the fall.

Annual budgets. Your property tax plus travel budget could cover our house+tax+insurance AND our 3 cars.

Our rabbit peed on our bed once. We were all just sitting on the bed watching TV (he liked to watch TV with us) and out of the blue he just 'd out and starts to piss. We threw him off the bed and were racing to peel off the comforter, blanket, sheet, and fitted sheet before it soaked through to the mattress. We managed to get all the bedding off before it made it to the mattress. This was on a Sunday night. We ended up having to do laundry at 11:00 on a Sunday night. It earned him 2 days in jail, meaning we locked him in his cage for 48 hours to reinforce that his litter box, which is in his cage, is the only place he gets to pee andSAWCE wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2017 11:39 am Got home from work yesterday and Ava had gone through the trash, chewed up the little plate that screws into my camera to attach it to a tripod, and chewed three different pairs of shoes.. For sure. Chicago and especially NYC generally have the best fares to Europe. I would imagine that LA has the best flights to the Far East but I never checked.D Griff wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2017 12:24 pmThat is one thing you have going for you, O'Hare has a ton of international flights, that probably helps with cost, especially in the off-season.wap wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2017 12:14 pm

Yea there's really no good way to use O'Hare for you without it getting spendy. Funny thing, I checked Travelocity, Orbitz, and Expedia, and they gave exactly the same flight options, hotel options, and prices. The 3 sites even visually looked identical and had the same format and interface. It's like they're all the same company, and maye they are. Ended up using Travelocity because I already have an account with them.
I imagine you require Comfort+ because of your giant status? So you'll always pay more for that, too.
on the annual Europe thing. It's awesome. Once you get on some travel websites mailing lists, you'll see even more deals. Travelzoo is a good site to get on their list, as is Gate 1 Travel.
If you want, I can post here when Mrs or I spot decent deals, in case you're interested.

I'd like to get one of those pet monitor things where you can see them and it has a little screen where they could see you. Even just to check in on her a few times a day while I'm at work so she can hear my voice.

At least you can get for no additional charge. Europe from Charlotte is $1k plus for coach any time I check.
