Speaking of 4th gen SS'..... Here's my old '99:

Pewter Metallic... I hated that color 3 days after I bought it.

You're a dash stroking FWD colored car lover... the 4th gen is none of those things. It's a stupidly effective vehicle nearly on par with C5 for half the price. Toss a few grand to Strano and you're more or less handling with the 1LE that just bought.

I bought that car at night and it looked way more silver. The next day in the sun I was like WTF.... It was a pretty popular color on GM vehicles that year though, every other Tahoe and Suburban was painted that color.

I had two 4th gens... a 1995 with the LT1 and the 1999 SS. Loved them both for the fun factor and wouldn't mind having a clean one even today if I wanted/needed something cheaper and lower-tech. Tons of fun and with the supporting mods they handle excellent.

Not much to report, but I did change the oil and rear diff fluid in the 1LE on Sunday. The Z06 gets the oil changed today as soon as more oil comes from Amazon.

Amazingly, the Camaro uses a full 10 quarts per change instead of the Corvette that uses 9.8 quarts. On the wet sump in the 1LE there are many fewer reports of oil burping into the intake like the dry sump systems with a full load of oil.

Yep, big oil pan in the SS with the wet sump... I'm just happy I don't have to keep .5-1.0 quarts back on every change on each car. With the Z I usually end up putting in 9 quarts, but I buy the oil in the 5 quart jugs.

On the 1LE I put in 9 and warmed it up, let it set and checked it, added the extra quart in and checked it again afterwards and it put the level square into the good to go zone on the dipstick.

I can't stand having half quarts left over. C5 takes 6.5 quarts, so I've got half sitting on the shelf until next year's change.

I guess if you make a deep enough pan and enough oil capacity you eliminate at least the oil starvation con of wet vs. dry sump systems.

It definitely allows more abuse between oil changes :doe:

The Poorsche 3.2 uses 9 quarts and still starves badly in track use, IIRC all of the M96/M97 porsche stuff is like that. German engineering can make anything problematic.

If I have <1 quart left I am okay with it, I can use it to lube the reloading presses, they can use it on the main shaft and case plate detent, but when there's a bunch of cars with this .5 quart shit I end up with a bunch of spare oil in the cabinet..

Brand new Fat Bob for 2018. They killed the Dyna line and made it a Soft Tail on the all new frame and new Milwaukee 8 motor that comes as either a 107 or 114 cubic inch displacement.

This one is lighter and has the big motor.
