I’m wondering if an 86 +LR D would be a good stable mate or if I’ll get bored and crave a P car … hmmm. I really like the current 86, in particular the styling and the price point and relative performance. I’m not necessarily someone that needs 1000hp in an ice car to feel like a man…
Like will this thing be more fun than my mini… is the real question. It’s heavier and bigger, worse interior, brakes and has less power… but it is manual and rwd and superior styling and perhaps better steering… hmmm
I doubt it would be MORE fun, just different fun.
I’ve owned both the 1st gen 86 and then a F56 Mini Cooper S.
The 86 is the better drivers car. The Mini is the better “everyday” sporty runabout car being small and nimble and punchy and minimal turbo lag.
The first gen 86 had to be worked and driven with purpose to keep it in the powerband and north of the torque dip. When you beat the balls out of it, it was an incredible drive… but drive it like a Corolla around town and it couldn’t get out of its own way.
The new one’s new engine is going to fix the old car’s only real flaw.

Yea small difference here is that it’s a jcw. It’s got a bit extra punch and a few other tweaks over the S. But generally yep. The weight balance and rwd Lay-out would be huge benefits
will report back during delivery tomorrow. 13k discount over new is hard to pass up
Is this the hook up from your buddy?
I don't see how you can go wrong with a new one. Drive it for a while, see how it fit, get it out of your system and sell it if you want with minimal loss.

My guess would be that Chris took some time off because he has read the dialogue on this page 1,345 times and decided to spend some of his free time doing something besides beating a horse to death.
Top end designed by lotus, engine assembled by Mercury Marine...it's quite a unique piece.

Yea it’s essentially a hookup through him. I don’t see how I can lose much considering it’s. 12k+ discount over new, and there is 7+ month wait for a new one.
Kind of to have a car that go 10s and go to 60 in 3 seconds.
But There was major fuckery trying to “transfer” it to me and I had to pay cash. So there is that.
I’ll report back once/if I get it. Delivery is tomorrow 3-5pm pst.

I feel like a reasonable mileage one that's been decently cared for in the low $20k range will probably always be worth about that.

Small change in plans I’m picking the Tessie directly up from the factory vs having them deliver it to my house.

There were two new BRZs at C&C. Hard to tell them from the old ones in person tbh.
Did you see a restored red Acura Legend six speed? My coworker just finished it and said he was going this morning. I may go next month, this new location is right by my place of employment.

No I didn't. I've seen some absolutely incredible Legends at RADwood though so maybe I just didn't notice. I'd love to go again if the weather is decent it was really a great time.

Been wanting to get this pic for a while now, and finally all the cars are parked together in my work lot to take this.
