I'm going to assume no update on this? It would be funny though if he had come back asking for the deal you offered though[user not found] wrote:Andy's last email was "Cheers!"

Hey Team Toyota bros:
What's real world pricing on this thing?
http://www.teamtoyotalanghorne.com/cert ... 2a9a60.htm
Is a Scion CPO warranty actually worthwhile?
It's probably way out of my price range but I'm curious.

How does "inventory cost" compare to real world purchase price? KBB/NADA is ~$15k trade, $18k retail which is getting into the realm of reasonable. $21k asking price makes me think that they're on drugs[user not found] wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2017 2:31 amScion CPO = Toyota CPO, essentially.troyguitar wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2017 2:04 am Hey Team Toyota bros:

12mo/12k mile comprehensive warranty and powertrain warranty to 5/21/2021 or 100k miles, whichever comes first.
I may still have some pull over there, Fled definitely does. If you want to know approximately what the wholesale/trade value should be (but not a guarantee), just look up KBB trade-in value with those miles and that year for 'good' condition. Add about 1-2k for reconditioning and you're there for inventory cost.

Monogram edition is nice, gets the heated seats, auto climate, push button start, navi, and HIDs from the BRZ, wrapped into the Scion exterior.
IMO.... these cars weren't exactly reliable for the first 3 years. An extended warranty is a good idea. Especially considering how they were more than likely beat on their whole lives by the first owners. You should PM Fledonfoot and discuss the car though. He's a Toyota service dude, he can tell you what's up with them. IIRC they had serious transmission issues first 2 years, and fuel pump chirps that have never been fixed. Other issues are less serious, like condensation in tail lights, and rattles.

That's why I asked about real prices. Retail is $18k, trade is $15k. If it was attainable for a number in between those two then it might be worthwhile, but I'm guessing that it is not.max225 wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2017 10:57 amtroyguitar wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2017 2:04 am Hey Team Toyota bros:

I don't see the value at 18 which is likely as low as they'll ever go. And wtf is up with gray ? I thought you wanted a color.
The blue one you posted for 14k is the way to go

Monogram is the edition, it was $27,400 new + $755 destination with Scion's, "no haggle pricing" so it was a $28,155 car take it or leave it.max225 wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2017 10:57 amtroyguitar wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2017 2:04 am Hey Team Toyota bros:

New juan is $26,255 + $885 destination so really $27,110. But that doesn't have the heated seats, HID, and navi. Option it similar and you're at a Toyota 86-860 edition. Which is $29,155 + $885 destination so $30,040.
If he can get the used juan for $18-19k it's a solid deal.

Monogram version has HID's, dual zone ac, heated seats of the BRZ limited with the better-handling scion suspension but was a rare 2014-only option so colors are next to impossible to find... but yeah it seems like the cost differential for one is too high. $18k+fees is too much.

Trade at $15k is likely accurate, take into account reconditioning and CPO fees, and you're likely close to the suggest retail sale price of $18k.
I'd take that info, offer $18k, and see what happens.
I mean yeah it's more money. But it also has a toyota-backed warranty. On an enthusiast car that was likely hooned. With an unreliable track record for the first few years. That's worth something.

I think it's a reasonable offer. If they don't want to sell the car for that, they'll come back higher and you got your answer. If they accept then all is good and you got the car for KBB retail price, which sounds fair. No need to play back and forth games.troyguitar wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2017 11:27 amsays I should start negotiations at retail and end up over retail?[user not found] wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2017 11:20 am

When I got my STI, I emailed the terms I was looking for, they accepted, drove up that night to get appraisal on my trade, picked the car up a couple days later. Done.
