I've always been intrigued by MINI Paceman. This thing is overvalued by...$5k-$8k? probably?
Had a thought that I could trade the Cucktrek for something from Carvana as a fun/second vehicle so it won't matter when the 4R comes in. But this is the most interesting and would destroy my Cucktrek profit in a year.
I think this is how Carvana is successful right now. There's no new cars to buy, so people end up trading in their current for something else at Carvana. The insane trade valuation then just supports the insane "new" car price. So it's all a wash for them at the end, only the customer gets screwed.

What was unique about the Mk4 R(32) body vs the regular Mk4 GTI body, other than some aero shit?max225 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 18, 2021 12:41 pmWell it started with the mk iv VW tried to make it into a halo car i think it was still before they had the other opportunities to upsell people with other brands as they weren’t fully in their portfolio.
I think they actually went through considerable effort to make it into awd etc it was the most special R model IMO, and it has been diluted down every generation since.
Mk 4 unique BODY and Engine and drive system + brakes + unique interior + limited production/colors
Mk 5 unique drive system + major engine +modifications + brakes + rear mounted battery ! + limited production + colors
Mk 6 unique drive system + body kit + brakes + colors
Mk 7 unique drive system + engine modification. + colors
Mk 8 unique drive system + engine modification + colors
Every subsequent generation since the 4 narrowed the gap to the gti.

Having lived the mini life you have to accept depreciation as a wayoflife. These things are dropping into oblivion fast. Also I am suspecting bmw is going to fiat the brand here in the us. They just closed 2 big mini stores around me. Only 2 left … which is kinda sad… I suspect this will be a bigger issue going forward

Sometimes I wonder if I should have bought a mini years ago. Came close a few times.
The unreliability is a reputation they earned over 2-3 generations and they have not been able to shake.

Yea, which is why I'm not particularly excited about buying a MINI right now. Not only do they depreciate like rocks, but the current price inflation makes it even worse. I was hoping for maybe a decent deal, but that just doesn't seem to be possible on anything other than new right now.max225 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 18, 2021 1:27 pmThis one has the “bad engine”.Detroit wrote: ↑Thu Nov 18, 2021 1:24 pm https://www.carvana.com/vehicle/2098178

I want this R. It's stupid, but I do. Good thing it'll go for way too much.

I strongly desire to be ensconced in one of those rear captain chairs with a cold beer popped and inserted in that retrolicious center table.

Sold for under $20k. Kinda cheap compared to what the market's doing?
