I love it how their quirky AWD notahatch is the one that M-B said, "yeah go ahead and go nuts with it we don't care" to the design team. And they're now painting it eye searing green and put giant wings on it and ridiculous wheels and whatnot. This car is batshit and I love it for that.stripethree wrote: ↑Mon Sep 11, 2017 1:53 pm

I didn't want my green monster looking all Christmas like and shit.
Drove another one last night via car2go. All of my same initial impressions were confirmed. I would be curious to get behind the wheel of an AMG just for grins, but that's unlikely.

The interior is fine on either one. The worst part about the CLA is the fact that is nearly as big as C class. Yet it looks like a squished C, there is no headroom in the back... we're talking like 5'6" at most... and no legroom... and it has a smallish trunk.
Like WTF FWD car and they packaged it like absolute garbage in the name of "style"
The C is far better in that sense... usable car for 4 ppl.

IMO the C is a legit nice ass car. You're right in the CLA looks odd on the outside. I sat in both at the auto show, there was a notable quality difference on the interior between the CLA and the C class.max225 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2017 1:42 pmThe interior is fine on either one. The CLA has that stupid #pad from 1993 which immediatly dates it.Johnny_P wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2017 1:49 pmIMO the C is a legit nice ass car. You're right in the CLA looks odd on the outside. However, the dash/infotainment is nearly identical. Also there are endless options on the CLA that make it "nicer" on the inside.
The one I drove had a 48k sticker... for a car that "starts" at 29,995 that is it was more than msrp on the C class of MK2 azn. I hate to admit it, but the CLA drove better... FWD and all. It was faster/more responsive and handled better. The C was sprung too soft.
However.... the CLA did have the AMGAY package... where I fried the brakes on a mountain road in <5 min.

Yeah the CLA gets the dual clutch transmission and is lighter with similar power numbers, so the fact that it drives better isn't too surprising. The C class isn't really an athlete and doesn't try to be. It tries to be a luxury car which I think it pretty much nails.max225 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2017 1:53 pmThe CLA has that stupid #pad from 1993 which immediatly dates it.
