Jefé drives a GLA, doesn't completely hate it?

Austin is one of the cities where car2go has deployed a bunch of GLAs and CLAs as slightly more expensive alternatives to the Smart forTwos. I hadn't bothered to rent one because, whatever, but found myself literally standing in front of one when I needed a car last night. So, I took it. It was a GLA250 4Matic
Random thoughts on my experience driving it about 5 miles:
- surprisingly acceptable acceleration, very easy to drive above legal limits
- surprisingly smooth transmission, like, buttery smooth, like, may have nudged my mind about being okay with a DCT someday
- laughable headroom, I'm 6' tall and it felt claustrophobic
- laughable storage space; I looked but didn't use the hatch space and it doesn't seem like much without the rear seats folded
I can see why soccer moms and young, esp. female, professionals flock to this thing. I would never consider one because it seems to not be all that good at a particular thing other than being a baby Benz, which is exactly why people buy it, IMHO. It's not sporty enough to check that box, it's not practical enough to check that box, and I don't care for the looks. For the money, I'd have many other things, but I was genuinely surprised that it didn't suck. I bet the AMG version would make a fun rallyx car.

I had beers at lunch and am in a sassy mood. Don't take it too personal. ;-)
