$50k ish. I would LOVE to own one. Actually I'd probably hate it. Kit car build quality, no sound deadening, basically the Lotus Elise with a tad more comfort but not much and I hated that car.

I think they are a lot more than that actually... 68-90k depending on if you want a convertible or not. Which is exactly why they are not selling and will be extremely rare.

According to Wiki, Lancia only produced 492 Stratos. And none came to the US.max225 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 14, 2017 1:23 pmI think they are a lot more than that actually... 68-90k depending on if you want a convertible or not. Which is exactly why they are not selling and will be extremely rare.

That's the definition of rare.
The 4C will probably push 10k units globally during its life cycle. Not that rare by comparison. Even in the US, it'll probably be 40 years before it's really "collectible", and human driving will probably be banned by then.

Oh, for some reason I was thinking they were in the 40s, then was thinking if there was a lot of money on the hood, I could actually, maybe afford one in the high 30s...max225 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 14, 2017 1:23 pmI think they are a lot more than that actually... 68-90k depending on if you want a convertible or not. Yea Lancia is def rarer. I was just trying to point out a somewhat similar concept on sale today... for not outrageous money.Detroit wrote: ↑Thu Dec 14, 2017 1:28 pmAccording to Wiki, Lancia only produced 492 Stratos. And none came to the US.max225 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 14, 2017 1:23 pm

Ive seen used 4C coupe's with a few miles for 48-49. Again those are asking prices. Im thinking serious offers are considered of course. The new and WOW factor is gone. Rare yes but there are better track toys and the dealer support is iffy in the US.

Gayman is an obvious competitor but the Alfa has so much more soul, even though the gayman is better in every way other than weight and rarity, which are not minor things to avoid.D Griff wrote: ↑Thu Dec 14, 2017 1:30 pmOh, for some reason I was thinking they were in the 40s, then was thinking if there was a lot of money on the hood, I could actually, maybe afford one in the high 30s...max225 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 14, 2017 1:23 pm

Yea, but the misery of driving it in most situations would outweigh the fun. Unless you live on a race track or the top of a mountain with an epic road, it makes very little sense. "Soul" is annoying when you sitting in traffic or driving through craters. That's probably why the sales are what they are.

Cayman S has surprisingly strong resale. I love the 4C and my test was simply killer. Id go all day Cayman S though. They got that car right.

Uphill battle to convince yourself that the 4C is better than a Cayman or C7.D Griff wrote: ↑Thu Dec 14, 2017 1:30 pmOh, for some reason I was thinking they were in the 40s, then was thinking if there was a lot of money on the hood, I could actually, maybe afford one in the high 30s...max225 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 14, 2017 1:23 pm

Because it's not.
Cayman vs C7 would be the tough one, IMO.

Yeah. And the C7 and Cayman and all are so usable now that you really need to WANT the 4C HARD. It's a one trick pony which would make it a great 5th car.Detroit wrote: ↑Thu Dec 14, 2017 1:37 pmYea, but the misery of driving it in most situations would outweigh the fun. My kinda Cayman - https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/deta ... /overview/
I don't really care... but driving something truly exclusive like that that makes everyone's head turn would be pretty cool. Porsches all kind of look the same to the untrained eye and are a dime a dozen.

Cayman is wayyyy slower than a C7. However much nicer put together and not made out of recycled trash.
C7 is also MUCH cheaper than a gayman S... which kind of comes close to the performance.
I guess it is a choice between on ramps or corners.... Not sure which way i'd go.

I see maybe one Porsche a month excluding early Cayennes.
That being said, I think a 4C would be an epic autox car and kind of want one. There's not much out there that will be better to autox than my MR2. The list is largely just 4C, Elise, and highly modded tiny cars. 4C/Elise would otherwise be mostly terrible to drive on public roads, I'd only take it to autox and back. Maybe a Cars&Coffee once a year if I'm bored. Cayman would be a great DD but worse for autox, I'd probably keep the MR2 if I got a Cayman.
