So, as some of you know, I recently spent a lot of fucking time and money replacing the diff in the C5.
One trip to the tail of the dragon and it started whining again.
This got me thinking, about how much time I spend working on shit, and how fruitless my efforts have been.
No, I'm not selling the C5, but re-thinking my entire vehicle situation.
Over the past year I have spent most of my free time working on the house, working on vehicles, and now I'm back to working on a house again, as I get my mother's place empty and ready for sale, and then my house needs some more work, and then work picks up and I'm working all weekend...
This dance, it's been going on and on for a while.
I'm tired, and I want my fucking life back.
So, this is my plan:
Reliable Dailies,
It just so happened that my mom left me her 2004 Camry, it's silver, it's in great condition, 59k miles, and it's going to be my girlfriend's daily driver.
Boom, freebie taken care of, she's got something reliable for a few years until she starts working and can buy her own car (Pushing for the ILX, she loves it)
So, the Floodrolla is going to be sold.
What to do with Big Green?
"It's a perfect working truck, why sell it?" Will say some people.
Well, it's not perfect, I need to spend a day getting it top shape ready to sell. It's also an old Dodge, and I while I was willing to roll those dice 4 months ago, I'm not anymore.
So, I'm probably going to buy a 2018 Canyon.
I test drove some a year ago, but I want to drive the All Terrain model before I purchase, but first I need a weekend off, well a Saturday.
I need to line some finances up first, so it's going to be a few months (Yes, I know they aren't even out yet).
Is it a bad financial decision? You betcha!
Will I have to fix it all the time? Hopefully not
Will it add some comfort and niceness to my daily commute? It fucking better
Sell Big Green, hopefully be at net zero.
So, that's it.
The brub tub is staying for now, it's about to be 100% paid off. IT drives fine, who knows the whine just may be a thing it does now.
I hope to run it and dominate in the fall and spring AutoX season.
Thanks for reading.
TL;DR
Selling Floodrolla and Big Green
Getting my mom's Camry and buying a Canyon.

I feel ya.
Since I got zero hits on the bike I was considering trading it in along with my Silverado on a newer truck that's actually capable of hauling a trailer so I could possibly make the Vette a full out race machine at times and just haul it to events. (i.e.-MASS amounts of camber without having to drive 2 hours to the event like that)
Newer truck would mean less worry about traveling out of town, plus a better gear ratio for hauling. I could swap the gears in this one but I'd be spending half the value of the truck and it wouldn't be worth it for me.
So I can understand playing music chairs with vehicles to make things work out for ya. Kendra CONSTANTLY jokes that I should get a Miata or S2000 for HER. Like I need to finance another toy to spend money on. You build your career up enough to be able to afford these things woman! I don't need more debt.
I'd LOVE a new vehicle but not the note. If the vette was paid off I could consider it since I'm at a point in my life where I could easily save a ton of money in 4-6 months for a better down payment than I put on my GTI in '08.
Good luck with the Doge sale. Hopefully it won't be too big of a hassle to part with it.

I can't support a terrible decision re: truck.
the green truck is very nice. its low miles. nothing major is wrong with it. You are likely horribly upside down on it. So you want to buy a NEWER, 3x the cost truck....that's the same fucking size to do the same fucking things.
I mean I get not wanting to turn wrenches on it, but even bringing it to the for service will be far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, less expensive than a new truck payment. And its not like you don't have another vehicle to drive in the meantime.
I mean seriously, what does the Canyon offer that your current truck does not.
TL;DR: Trucks are stupid.

Hmm,makes sense to me? I don't see the need for 4 vehicles for 1 person. Especially when you have to keep wrenching on them.
So it'll be a TRUK + when all is said and done?
Are you worried your current TRUK is not going to last? I mean taking on 20k of debt over the current situation may not be 100% worthwhile.

As long as you load the Canyon up with bedazzle, I'm good with it.

has good points.
It's just infuriating how I'm criticized by friends, and can't have a discussion, especially when I don't do the same to them.
You want to build a house? Go for it
You want to have a kid? Dude, that's awesome
You want to buy a BMW? Not for me, but sure
You want to buy a Minivan? I fully agree, it's a smart move
I'd like to buy a much nicer, more reliable truck.
DAFUQ ARE YOU DOING?!?!?

I dunno? I never said yes to 4/4 of those. Trying to have an active discussion with you.Melon wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2017 1:56 pm has good points.

all your other moves in the thread make 100% sense. But not the truck. Hell i hate trucks and was all for the move up to big green for a little more cheaddar for a little nicer thing..... at the cost of a few grand.
not 30.
