Civic?
Corolla?
Accord?

All fit the bill just fine.

It has a great trunk. One of the benefits you rarely see in SUV's nowadays

1.8T sportwagen, it gets really nice MPG also, and quite a bit cheaper than the TDI was.

:dat: is the best answer, really. How is the reliability looking on the new 1.8 now that it's been out for a couple years now?

Agreed. It's perfect. Not sure of back seat room is more then before but going any bigger with a hatch might push her into mid sized suvs

Mk7 has a slightly bigger back seat. It really is an improvement all around. And it doesn't run on earth destroying diesel, doesn't need actual donkey piss additions, and doesn't have grenading fuel pumps, and a timing belt that costs $1400 to change.

However carbon will likely build up and waterpumps will fail, all in all still cheaper to operate than the diesel.

I just built one and sent it to her. Essentially what she's likely getting back for her 2013 minus the taxes etc. She can trade up for a BRAND NEW one for next to nothing. :mindblown:

Is Canada different from US? I think for 2nd hand units you weren't eligible for full amount. But I can't :member: anymore.

Looks like she's feeling the CRV. Not bad, whatever floats the boat. It's a pretty good product overall. She's kind of a car gal though and I think I'm going to maker her test drive a sportwagen in tandem with the CRV.

I suggested it but she wants bigger in that similar format/price. Got her considering the sportwagen and Outback. Her final list text to me was this:

Mitsubishi outlander
VW Atlas
VW Tiguan (new one)
VW Sportwagen
Subaru Forester
Subaru Outback
Honda CRV

Doesn't CX5 have the same space as those?

Dat woman logic.

That's true but she has a spirited driving nature. Plus she's thinking of her kids and cottage getaways more then anything. Back seat comfort, hatch, bigger for less money is better.

Compromises :( Car gals would likely get a Golf Wagon and tune or better yet a golf R...but that's a compromise the other direction. I fully get it.

That's what I was thinking. These are all pretty close in size except the Atlas, which is a 7 seater and, I assume, fairly larger than the others.

I wouldn't be surprised if she gets another golfwagon, she had the illusion that these other options will be more voluminous but once she explores them she'll find out they are only taller, not wider. Plus I'm making her test drive them all and bring a tape measure to see how much leg room she has in the back of each one when her and her man's seats are set.

She started with Atlas because she thought the 2.0T would be as great on gas as a golf. Plus she didn't realize how much it was all in.

Lol just caught this... yeah I'm taking the high road on this one. If she comes back with more questions that's great, otherwise :aintcare: the rest of the way. I'd instantly swap the CX5 with the Mitsubishi if any of my $$ were on the line
