IIRC the 230 gets the M-sport type seats standard now too. So yeah wheels/tires/brake pads and you're probably good. Still an open diff. IDK if that actually matters with modern TC and stability control.max225 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2017 11:23 amAfter you drop money on some brakes and wheels and tires that don't suck it can be made to handle. Best BMW out of the box is the M2 I want one. Yes I am aware it costs 20k more than the 230i
Looks like $25 large will get you a real nice 228i in a real color with fakesport, 8AT, nav, and ass warmers. Not bad.

How much for a 335i in the same spec? I thought they were around 30k.Johnny_P wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2017 4:27 pmIIRC the 230 gets the M-sport type seats standard now too. And that's the problem with the 2. You have to want it. The 4 series is the same way, where the 3 series depreciates harder and therefore is the better buy on the used market. I prefer the looks of the 2 doemax225 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2017 4:44 pmHow much for a 335i in the same spec? I thought they were around 30k.Johnny_P wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2017 4:27 pm

The gray color and tan interior drag that other one down too. But yeah you're probably paying $4k extra at least for the CPO. I dunno if its worth it, the N55 is proving to be pretty damn reliable. The N20 had some problems in early years with timing sprockets or tensioners or some bs that was to fix and required engine replacement.max225 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2017 4:47 pm https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sal ... I'd rather have a 230 than a 335 for sure. Such shorter wheelbase, much lighter weight.Johnny_P wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2017 4:48 pmAnd that's the problem with the 2. You have to want it. 2 and 3 series weigh the same somehow. I don't know how or why.troyguitar wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2017 4:56 pmI'd rather have a 230 than a 335 for sure. Such shorter wheelbase, much lighter weight.

Howevering finding a 328i in decent trim is so fking hard and it costs nearly as much as 335i. Might as well go for the big boy motor.

I see no point in going 228i, unless you really prefer it that much over the 3.

Sport seats standard on the 230 == it will be easy to find nicely optioned used models in the future. Just look for RWD and you're pretty much done.

I like stereo+big dick brakes.... which becomes m sport search which costs as much as a 335i... used market is wacky.troyguitar wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2017 5:10 pm Sport seats standard on the 230 == it will be easy to find nicely optioned used models in the future. Yeah and I like low depreciation, so the only BMW I'd consider would be 12+ years old. None of us would actually buy a 230.max225 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2017 5:11 pmI like stereo+big dick brakes.... which becomes m sport search which costs as much as a 335i... used market is wacky.troyguitar wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2017 5:10 pm Sport seats standard on the 230 == it will be easy to find nicely optioned used models in the future. I would like to test drive a Type R. The C/D article I read said it really put down the power, FWD or not. Also, the word is that they are making 300 hp at wheels. A unique car for sure, and probably a pretty darn good one, except for the juvenile styling.

I would. Not a new one, but a $25k one? Sure. 5/7 would pick that over a GTI.troyguitar wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2017 5:18 pmYeah and I like low depreciation, so the only BMW I'd consider would be 12+ years old. None of us would actually buy a 230.

I bet its a riot. but it sounds like Honda did a good job on this car. They just went with the styling and red interior accents and stuff. I could get over that, but then again, I own a car with a giant pointless wing, so take that how you will.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2017 6:23 pm I would like to test drive a Type R. It certainly won't depreciate a ton. If you can get it at MSRP it's probably a good purchase.

IDK, I don't see there being a big market for this car. The people who want it can't afford it.Johnny_P wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2017 7:35 pmI bet its a riot. but it sounds like Honda did a good job on this car. Well, go look up used prices of Civic Si's. A 2013 will go for like $18k with 40k on it... $18 grand is close to what it was new 4 years ago. The Type R will be a low volume vehicle.SixSpeeder wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2017 7:39 pmIDK, I don't see there being a big market for this car. I don't think that they will hold their value, not like your car or a Wrangler imo. There's already a ton of used Focus RS for sale optimistically listed in the low $30k range that nobody wants.Johnny_P wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2017 7:44 pmWell, go look up used prices of Civic Si's. Ford made too many RS's, clearly. Not to mention, was too eager to The Hype R might be different from a volume standpoint, but it's definitely different from a standpoint. No way there'll be steep discounts on Hype R's.SixSpeeder wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2017 8:08 pmI don't think that they will hold their value, not like your car or a Wrangler imo.
