I'd go Tribute for sure out of all of these choices, including the later listed Explorer. Hope for 50K more of reasonably low cost miles then crush it?
Yeah....but I got a shady vibe from the owner....... think he is a flipper pretending........
I think I may be turned off of mid sized SUVs...... might just get the kid a beater coupe or sedan.......whicch means I need to find a new thread for your opinions.....
this one qualifies here, sorta.....it's all about the love and the puppy dogs.......

I'd find one with documented head gasket work because these engines are guaranteed to need it between 100-160k miles. Not super expensive but not cheap considering the price paid for the car.
Lately, I've been looking at poverty trucks again. But it seems like absolutely everything is way over priced.

My guess would be that Chris took some time off because he has read the dialogue on this page 1,345 times and decided to spend some of his free time doing something besides beating a horse to death.

Yea... especially anything wrangler.... cheap gas, and nobody is selling their useless toys. No reason to.
Jobs are more or less here and ppl are earning money... New sales aren't really slowing down as much as I thought either.
Even pickups...like GMT800 Silverado's are $10k for something worth buying. Makes no sense at all.
I'd love a GMT800 Avalanche, but those start at $10k for ok ones.

Yep. Been that way for a while now.
Why not just lease a new Silverado?
I probably will. Just trying to make the most out of the forced if I could find a nice GMT800 Avalanche down south or out west for a reasonable price, I'd probably roll that for a bit and sell for no loss because no rust.

It actually looks ok outside of the hideous wheels. I am sure take offs aren't too expensive.
The ramz, the TVs...Mexican spent what he didn't send home on truck mods instead if maintenance.
If I could find a stock well maintained example for under $10k, I'd probably go that route.

Not a bad idea. Vacation down south. Drive a truck up. Re sell to pay for your flight down.

Also, how do you a trans in 100k miles?
GM quality+ no service.
No one services automatics, and that particular transmission doesn't fare well with 100k mile old fluid.
I want to buy from the guy that does service transmissions. That's the part. I'd never go 100k without servicing the trans, personally.

I would be willing to pay WAY too much for Desert's Tahoe.

Get a van. Half the price, same vehicle.
I would entertain a 4x4 full-size van, but they never came that way from the factory. Conversions are and negate the cost savings.
I'd kill myself before driving a FWD Minivan. Sorry, just not happening.
