We towed snowmobiles to the UP and the mountains in Idaho with a RWD van and blizzaks back in the 90s/00s when the tires weren't as good. Ain't nobody need no 4WD.

I can't see offroading in a lease or anything DD-worthy, but I also DD cheap old tin cans NFG so I guess it could be OK if you went with a $10k thing after the 1SMP?

Not hardcore offroading, just some sand dunes and easy trails.troyguitar wrote: ↑Fri Jul 07, 2017 10:33 amDetroit wrote: Yep. I'm not going to drive in the snow, so I'll have a DD nomatter what.

Right on. I like my $9k car way more than a new thing. It's nice to have it be pre-scratched.Detroit wrote:Not hardcore offroading, just some sand dunes and easy trails.troyguitar wrote: ↑Fri Jul 07, 2017 10:33 am

Yep, totally. It'll all depend on finding the right thing...i.e. a well cared for southern/western truck. An Avalanche would be perfect for what I want, but they're pricey just like everything 4x4 right now.troyguitar wrote: ↑Fri Jul 07, 2017 10:48 amRight on. I like my $9k car way more than a new thing. My friends dad got on his 3rd trans on his trailblazer before he sold it, he's the kind of guy that shouldn't own anything other than Japanese cars, and now he drives a Jetta, I hope to god it won't poop on him.

Also
134k on it, under $5k price. That's pretty solid, it won't really lose value from there. Also 1 owner vehicle that appears to have been regularly serviced. Good looking truck.

And another one that's pretty decent.

102k on it, $6500.

I don't think I'd buy anything at all from a rust state anymore, even a couple of winters will fuck up fasteners everywhere.Detroit wrote: ↑Thu Jul 20, 2017 9:38 amProblem is rust. Yea, very true. If I buy a poverty truck, it'll be from the south or west, no question.troyguitar wrote: ↑Thu Jul 20, 2017 10:05 amI don't think I'd buy anything at all from a rust state anymore, even a couple of winters will fuck up fasteners everywhere.

Xterras have absolutely the best bang for the buck. But they turned into giant hideous monsters with their newer body styles.
