Water is supposed to bead on trucks? I thought they has special paint that didn't do that. wrote: ↑Mon Jul 10, 2017 1:37 pmI only polished a couple spots where there were light scratches or plastic marks - I didn't do the whole thing. F that.
Wax was necessary doe. Water was starting to not bead.
Dat detailing thread, doe.

Washing big SUV's/trucks takes twice as long as your C5/Volt. I've got a method for the Tahoe now, but I still have to get a step ladder out to dry off the roof.

The last time I washed the truck was when we got back from Dallas and the front end with solid bug carcasses. I blasted it with the power washed, then decided to keep going. Holy fuck, it's a chore.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Mon Jul 10, 2017 1:44 pmWashing big SUV's/trucks takes twice as long as your C5/Volt. The C5 is breeze.

Good to hear. My Z had the worst paint evah! wrote: ↑Mon Jul 10, 2017 1:25 pmI've been pretty laissez-faire about the Forks. It gets washed once a month, usually by the out back with a brush in a bucket.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Mon Jul 10, 2017 1:20 pm
I'm going to go with you being an OCD car detailing nut?
It was due for some wax and some decontamination, doe. I'm impressed with how well the paint's held up to being brush washed.

No, I get that. wrote: ↑Mon Jul 10, 2017 1:44 pm
You leased yours because you wanted to , I bought mine and intend to keep it for a while.
TBH, if I go full and get a ZR2, even a lease...I'll probably CQuartz it as soon as I get it.

No it's not. I CQuartzed a 13 year old truck. Just prep the fook out of it. It's not this magic seal that lasts for all of eternity. wrote: ↑Mon Jul 10, 2017 1:54 pm
I regret not and going with Cquartz on the Forks. Too late now.

My is 14 years old and looks with the CQuartz.
The only benefit to doing it right away is sealing in the nice fresh paint.

My grey dakota too so much less time to wash. The C5 has so many sq. ft of painted surface to detail.
Not sure about the green one, that one may take longer.

I love washing my Silverado. Because I don't. LOL.
When I do, I blast thru it and don't care. It's more of a "Get that spot wet, ok it's fine like that"
I put Adam's paint sealer on the hood due to the paint fading into the primer so that it doesn't get any worse. I need to sand a piece and then put some clear over it to stop it. But I R TEH LAZY with the daily driver.

I wish i can go with a zfg truck, I won't ever worry about being fender bendered, especially since I live in a area where tailgating happens on a regular basis. Their cars gonna get destroyed, not mine.Acid666 wrote:I love washing my Silverado. Because I don't. LOL.

I actually really like my truck. I keep it decent and keep up with the oil and maintenance. It needs shocks but I'm kinda in "don't wanna" mode. Maybe when I order shocks for the vette I'll order a set for the truck.MexicanYarisTK wrote: ↑Mon Jul 10, 2017 7:04 pmI wish i can go with a zfg truck, I won't ever worry about being fender bendered, especially since I live in a area where tailgating happens on a regular basis. The paint's in pretty good shape except for the hood in a few spots. I'll likely sand it down, paint it with some autozone rattle can matched paint (I think it's Victory Red or some shit, likely in stock everywhere), and then clear that spot.
It's got a couple of scrapes from the company that cuts the grass next to me but I really don't care. As long as it's mechanically sound and doesn't leak I'm good.

I had quite the moment last night washing the car. I'd finished my first pass with the Uber drying towel and went to spray on some Sonax Brilliant Shine Detailer . Started with the hood, but after 5-6 sprays I noticed it smelled quite like wheel cleaner. Dafuq? Yep, grabbed the Sonax wheel cleaner by mistake. Quickly rinsed it off and re-washed the hood in a bit of a panic, but got it done quickly. So much
I continue to be impressed with the Gyeon coatings, doe. It's amazing how clean the car stays between washes and how easily bugs and bird dirt come off the paint with nothing more than some water from the hose. First car I've ever coated, but it's 5/7. Would definitely recommend.

Is Gyeon similar to CQuartz?

I was thinking if I get my riding lawn mower soon, I'd cquartz it so that yard cuttings and dirt are easy to rinse off. If the underside of the blade deck is smooth painted material I'd probably put it on my lift and coat that as well.coogles wrote: ↑Tue Jul 11, 2017 7:24 am I had quite the moment last night washing the car.
