Wut? You just loaned your brodozer to your broham for six months, and his deadbeat girlfriend tore it up?
Can I borrow your Chrysler? My girlfriend is interested!
Dat sharing economy LOL.
I imagine this is how most Turo cars end up.

My guess would be that Chris took some time off because he has read the dialogue on this page 1,345 times and decided to spend some of his free time doing something besides beating a horse to death.

Because the trucks COST under $20k to produce since the volume is so high. The margins are insane.

Split the difference and 10 off... I guess that's not horrific for $33k. Less than my car.
You can walk in and get this "43k" TRUK for 30k with no negotiating. In and out of the in 30 min.V8 4 doors and that useless bed everyone loves... and 4x4

The key these days is leasing. The lease price is based off MSRP, so the insane discounts are all cap cost reduction. That's how you end up with a Silverado for $200/mo.
And the deals are getting nuts. I'm gaining confidence that I'll be able to get a V8 brahdoe this time for $200. Will probably have to give up on having an actual color, but I think it'll be doable.

Ah I get it. Yeah that RAM that Max posted would be like 250/mo if they do a 24 mo lease and a 60% residual or so.

Except most BIG 3 dudes know that they are flooding the market and residuals are shit now... so I am sure they are smart enough to just give huge rebates and fuck the customer who will be upside down 5/7 years of their stretchpay of $300 a month.

Fawk. Can't afford not to.
No truck has a 60% residual today, they are low-mid 50s at best.

It's hard to say what's driving used prices. Mine has a residual value of $28k at least end in December. MSRP was 42k, so a 66% residual. Most are selling for low $30k it seems. It won't last, but the residuals seem to be holding for some reason.

I agree. But I've been looking at used trucks to buy, and ones like mine are listed in the low $30k range. Even if you them down, it would be above my residual value. Hell, KBB claims my trade in value is my residual.
Makes zero sense to me, but I'll take it.

Yeah really. Hot damn. I'm guessing they're justifying used TRUK prices to the consumer by showing them original (inflated) MSRP and what new ones go for telling them they're getting a great deal.
Car buyers are generally pretty stupid so this could actually work. Bet that's why used are so high still.

They tried to do that when I was purchasing my tdi. Some guy actually had to the nerve to try to justify to me that a used car is worth more than new.

They build 3 times as many full sizers as mid sizers...and the mid sizers have zero problem moving, so there's no reason to pile on incentives on the OEM side. Incentives are just a pile of money that's allocated to certain models that need help. The full size segment is struggling (because production volume is SO high), so that's where a lot of the OEM incentive spend money goes.
I'm pretty certain I'll get one more Silverado, then in 2 years the s will be rolling on Colorados with all the extra competition from Ferd and Jeep.
