There are definitely shitty companies out there, and I'm aware that my current employer tends to treat everyone well. But much like the car allowance, I'd rather have the cash. Especially since the gift cards are to places where I don't shop. If they started offering gift cards to Jegs or Summit or something, then I may be a little more open to it. But I give zero fucks about a gift card to TJ Maxx.Detroit wrote: ↑Thu Jul 22, 2021 1:47 pmBetter than nothing. My (now former) company never gave anything, no surveys, no rewards, not even raises for COL. What a POS.Huckleberry wrote: ↑Thu Jul 22, 2021 12:55 pm
Our managers constantly put out surveys asking how people want to be recognized for doing a good job and why. I keep saying, "Money, and for the same reason this company doesn't accept attaboys as payment from customers."
They still just hand out points that can be redeemed for gift cards that are then reported as taxable income.

Yeah, there isn't much of anything that intrigues me from the Big 3 where $600 would cover payments and insurance. It helps, obviously, but what's the plan when the car is paid off? Or do they expect you to just lease for all of eternity?

I dunno, been a lot going on, guess I forgot.
Deets are tough. Basically being forced to make impossible things happen at any cost, which is exactly what caused dieselgate. Worse was I got screamed at for trying to incorporate people from other departments in my actions "which is a stupid decision that will just slow things down and get me fired". So, I fired myself. I believe strongly in teamwork and cross-functional Collab. Not being allowed to do that really pushed me over the top. I was never officially allowed to work with others, but did it anyway. Then a really stupid impossible project came up completely out of my wheelhouse that I was "expected to own and have complete control over interacting with nobody else", I was legit concerned that I'd fuck something up big time because I didn't know what I was doing (hence the Collab part) and I felt like I was just being setup to be a scape goat.

Yea, fuuuuuuuuuuck that. You made the right move and you restructured your life (moving to Minis Tirith) to make it an easy decision. Good on you.Detroit wrote: ↑Thu Jul 22, 2021 3:14 pmI dunno, been a lot going on, guess I forgot.

Question, you told Dirk you're "almost" gone. What's left? Hopefully an exit interview

Well, I rage quit because my boss wanted this project complete in 2 weeks, which is impossible. I'm a stupid cuck and can't screw over my working level homies that now have to do this project, so I'm helping them as much as possible. There will be an exit interview, but I may decline it. I've complained to HR a few times about my boss and the culture and they don't care, an exit interview will just be wasted breath.wap wrote: ↑Thu Jul 22, 2021 3:19 pmYea, fuuuuuuuuuuck that. I'm actually going clean in my off time. Minimal drinking and no smoking, I think it's been contributing to my depression as a crutch AND I'm worried there's still plenty of companies out there testing for it.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Thu Jul 22, 2021 4:03 pmAfter that its just blasting tunes and smoking weed on the Bayliner.

It doesn't feel as good as I'd hoped. I completely screwed over a number of people that I like and respect at work because they now have to do my impossible assignment on an impossible timeline and they don't know the product at all. I think full blow bridge burnt status, unfortunately. There's also uncertainty of not having a job lined up, but this place messed with my head badly and I need to get myself straight again before I can be happy.

Maybe some of your (ex)coworkers will quit now, too?

Maybe? The weird thing is they don't seem that phased by the request, almost like I'm the bitch. I probably am. Oh well.wap wrote: ↑Thu Jul 22, 2021 4:17 pmNah man. At some point you gotta put yourself first. No one else is going to.Detroit wrote: ↑Thu Jul 22, 2021 4:15 pm

Responsible people with accountability are never going to feel 100% about quitting. Your inability to fully embrace this explains why, in no particular order:
1. You have money
2. You have only been married once.
3. Why you are still married.
4. You're going to have a new job before you can go through a case of PBR and 50 gallons of boat gas.

It's never super easy to make such a major life decision in a fit, without the ironclad safety net of a new job in hand, even if you were planning on doing it for a while now. You'll be 5/7 once you accept one of several job offers that are soon to be presenting themselves to you.
