Haven't figured it out yet, still waiting on some forms from the brokerage and my work stock plan.

It's not going to be pretty this year at all though.

Ours will probably be in the upper 20s. Scared to find out.

Just did mine.

Fed & State = 33% effective rate.

On top of this and the raping I took all year on the paycheck, I still owe the feds $29k and the state $7.8k.

I guess I need to throw money away at things like points on a new mortgage every year and 20% APR home loans and buy an electric vehicle every year if I don't want to give it to the .gov.

And, they want estimated taxes for next year too.. :ludacris:

This is why I'll never actually be able to move to Europe (France). We'd need to nearly double our income to have about the same buying power.

Prices of cars, gas, property, food, etc are full on :disgust: across the pond. @davestr can probably provide accurate account but when I went to Germany gas was close to $6/gal US

Not that I would actually make the move, but universal health care, very low crime, well-maintained infrastructure, good schools, excellent public transportation, and a culture of working to live instead of vice versa would make it worth it for me.

I hate sorting through stuff and entering tax info for the wife's business... such a pain in the ass.
A good tax person is very much worth it, imo.

Yeah, Turbotax is now spitting a question that I don't know how to answer back at me because we traded in the wife's car for a new one last year and she's self-employed, so the vehicle gets written off.

Everything's a business expense bro. It's all tax-free. Only poor people pay taxes.

The car is only used for business? It's never been driven to the supermarket?
Plausible deniability: it's why all of their cars look the same...

Do you offer audit protection with your tax services? If so, let's talk business.

Just claim the mile deduction?
Right, sounds easy but Turbotax is overcomplicating things and I'm not sure why. Downsides to using a thing that you plug numbers into and have no control over the actual worksheets.
Click "Forms" on the top right and you get the electronic version of the actual forms.

Good luck though, when I've done that in the past things never worked out and I ended up starting over. One year I did my taxes 8 times on Turbo Tax to fix errors it seemingly couldn't recover from.

Every year I swear that next year I'm hiring someone and I never do.... wtf is wrong with me?

You suffer from How Hard Can It Be? Syndrome.

I won't pay someone to do a thing that I should be able to do myself without major issues, even if it might be smarter to do so. It's the anti- :crang: mentality... or being a cave-man.

So true, but I'd rather pay someone to not screw it up

Usually the bang for the buck is insane. It is literally some of the best money I spend every year. Would rather DIY on almost ANYTHING besides this.
