Even if you don't rev it out for a few hundred miles, I'm looking forward to your impressions of the gears more then anything. That alone transforms the car. Add all the other shit and you must be , repeat... about the project coming together! In4results

Yea, I probably could have just done the gears and been happy, but we'll see. I'm taking a half day tomorrow to hopefully get it running.
I'll be just to get it moving, but I have to spend 500 miles in stop and go under 55 mph for proper clutch and gear break-in. I'll take backroads to work, but that's still only about 20 miles a day. It'll take me some time before I can fully experience the fury.
It should be dumb.

do clutches really need a break in beyond doing a certain number of starts and stops? I mean, if you take off 3 times and go pound out 500 miles of interstate that wont do shit.Detroit wrote: ↑Thu Apr 06, 2017 8:51 amYea, I probably could have just done the gears and been happy, but we'll see. I HATE when people say "oh you'll change your mind" or something along those lines? Dafuq? Someone at my office had mentioned that him and his wife weren't going to have kids, and so many of the women here were giving him shit.Detroit wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2017 5:36 pmPeople keep telling me Infamous is going to change her mind...but they haven't met her. This is my woman. When we had a baby shower for a friend she wrote on the card "Congrats on your crotchfruit y0".
Can't tell you how many people have asked "You guys have kids?"
LOL. "No, we have cats".
Our admin assistant said "Oh, you'll change your mind, or she will at least".
BISH, I'm pushing 40. I'm past that point. My kids are my cats and my toys. I'm the fun uncle that's buying them cigarettes and beer.
Also, at "crotchfruit". That's been her go-to for a while now.

While I agree with you, I spent a lot of money on both the clutch and the gears...both of which came with very specific break-in instructions. The clutch recommends 500 miles of stop and go. The gears say 500 miles under 55 mph (with a series of drives of varying lengths within that). I might as well adhere to these recommendations because it certainly can't hurt anything.Big Brain Bradley wrote: ↑Thu Apr 06, 2017 8:55 amdo clutches really need a break in beyond doing a certain number of starts and stops? The diff shop was very specific to follow break-in. He said they get a number of people returning with complaints when they don't follow the break-in procedure. It's apparently specified by the gear manufacturer and he said they've never had someone come back with issues when it's properly broken in.

new gears definitely need the breakin. Clutch specified stop and go, which makes sense.Detroit wrote: ↑Thu Apr 06, 2017 9:37 amWhile I agree with you, I spent a lot of money on both the clutch and the gears...both of which came with very specific break-in instructions. Properly set up used gears dont need a fresh breakin, but new shit 100% does.

The clutch goes as far as to say that highway miles don't count toward break-in. Stop and go only, which does make sense.
I just hope the fucker runs without a tune so I can get the miles going.
