Things have gone :fullretard: everywhere. It's crazy.

Now is a good time to keep an eye out for stuff, and if you find your "forever" home, it makes sense to buy. But for starter or anything temporary, it's best to rent for a while. These values won't last.

Been a busy morning, a lot of stupidity at work, but it's job security so whatever.

We've been making Chipotle style bowls. Wife makes a creamy shredded chicken with peppers, onions, taco seasoning, broth and cream cheese. And I make a cuban style black beans. We make rice and then every body gets to layer with salsa, lettuce, tomatoes shredded cheddar, sour cream and guac.

No, I don't think I will hit C suite. I am still trying to see if I can stop working at some point. Working in tech is really tough, and there is no career past 50 years old. It is way too competitive and difficult to keep a job after that. So I'll try to get as much done as I can before I am chopped liver.

I know it’s a different world and you’re a driven guy. So looking to essentially retire by 50? Awesome goal.

Yea hoping to do so... I think whether I want it or not. I don't think I can hold a job down post 50. It takes too much out of you here.

I hope you're right!

If they do, :ohwell: we are probably in this house for the long haul and will just build a garage/addition in a few years. We have a ton of :bs: equity due to all of the prices going up 30% in the past year, so we could get a nice HELOC... just seems like a lot of effort. I'm hoping we can just move in 3-5 years to something with a garage and a bit more room.

One interesting thought I've had... everyone ALWAYS builds additions onto the back of their houses (here at least). We basically chose this place for the backyard we love, and one reason I'm hesitant to consider building a garage is that I don't want to ruin the back yard. Anyone know why it's always the back that gets added to? The front yard is literally useless and I wouldn't care if it was 1/2 it's size, but the back is room for activities. I'm guessing there is a minimum amount required to be back from the road, and the neighbors would probably hate us if we added 15' to the entire front of the house, but it seems like an easy solution to me.

Mexican bowls are my go-to, I eat these for lunch probably 3X/week on average since WFH life started.

There are usually strict requirements about offsets from the road and/or design that make it either impossible or cost prohibitive to add on to the front. In my last hood, I saw a few ranches go 2 stories, that seemed to be more popular. Doesn't fix the garage problem :doe:

You'll rarely make out adding onto a house. It's honestly better to move unless you have some :unicorn: location.

My goal is to retire between 45 and 50. Step 1 was reducing debt and overall expenses to as small as possible.

Biggest risk is my job. I hate my industry and don't really see a way out at this point...so I'm just looking to keep my income for as long as possible, zero desire to move up and become part of the problem. Hopefully I can sock enough away to take a simpler job until I can stop working altogether.

:word:

Makes sense, I will still look into it if/when the time comes. Adding a second story is :waxer: and I'm not blowing six figures on this place unless that includes a nice garage. Location is great but not :unicorn: ... the trouble is that a house in this neighborhood with >1500 sq. ft. and a garage is $700K+.
