Still putting my whole check in to 401k for the last four checks of this year just to cover my ass some with taxes from house sale. Remembered an old Vanguard RothIRA account I had, so I updated all my info there and set that to put $50 twice a month on my paydays. Next year I'll just do a 10% 401k contribution and up my IRA contributions.
This is from a $20,000 Bloomberg Terminal. This is straight up legitimate stock stuff. I've seen these at one of my clients.
And here's some picture of a dude who just made it to the $1 million club.

You can put in 18,000 a year, no matter what the match.... so if the company matches 9k, you can put in 27k.Acid666 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 15, 2017 9:47 am What's up investment thread? Long time listener, first time caller.
So our 401K FINALLY got transferred over to this new company and I finally have access to at least SEEING what my money's doing. Before this company basically just gave us a sheet of paper once a year with an amount. Zero transparency. Now, I've got access to it online and can move things around if I see fit.
Started doing retirement calculators and shit, and some friends recommended setting up an account with Personal Capitol. Kind of nice, I can see all my income and spending in there and charts, along with my current debt. Just sad that it's not finding my 401K in the search where I can give it access to help point me in certain directions.
I've been putting 8% into it with a 4% match, but I need to renew some paperwork so I might change the amount to 10%. You have a limit to yearly contributions correct? I'm wondering if it's even worth it, or if I should just open a Roth IRA or something on the side and just do both. I'm still a noob to a bunch of this but I'm at least aware of what I don't fully know.
It will grow until it pops... if you happen to cash out at the right time, you'll do well. Many will lose a lot.

Bitcoin hit $10,000 and is now @ $10,965! Too bad I don't have much.
I would never cash out.

So I decided that instead of maxing out my 401k next year, I'll start with maxing out my Roth IRA. That way, as pointed out, my money isn't as tied up with all these fees if something happens and I do need access to it. I'll still contribute some to my company 401k so that I get a little of that free money in their match.. If I'm still saving a good amount with maxing the Roth IRA and doing a 10% 401k contribution, I may move some of that savings into a traditional IRA.

This happens every time it skyrockets. It dips and dips and then it comes back higher than ever before. These dips happen, could even hit 5k again, maybe less.Apex wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2017 10:12 amNever saw that coming.Calvinball wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2017 10:06 am http://www.bbc.com/news/business-42178705
