We fostered this one, Enchilada, along with another cat that had bone exposed from a dog attack. "Enchi" was found by a woman who saw he had some upper resp and eye problems so she thought she was helping him when she gave him some eye drops. Only problem was the drops contained a steroid. His eyes got agitated and swole up to easily 3 times their normal size. This caused him to lose 100% of his eyesight. He was miserable, couldn't close his eyelids. They were going to do surgery to remove his eyes but he needed to be over 2 pounds to safely make it through anesthesia. Since he couldn't close his eyes they basically crusted up and all we could do was help keep them medicated and clean the crust off as it fell off. He was likely going thru constant migraines with the built up pressure... But it eventually went down and he started to act like a normal cat.
We pretty much took him in after Kendra fell in love with him. He's really a goober. He loves to eat the fuck out of my beard. He sleeps with his mouth and eyes open sometimes and I say he looks like Brak from Space Ghost.
On his last visit they determined that the pressure in his eyes wasn't as bad as they thought, so they decided that he can keep his eyes. We just have to keep checking them every few months to see if there's any changes. But so far he's a happy cat. He's very "derp" and has many nicknames. One is "Roomba" because he just wanders and hits objects, walks back two steps and then changes direction. He'll jump for absolutely no reason and go ballistic like a jumping bean.
