The RF is way better looking, but that's just, like my opinion man.

I agree. Also more useful when it gets cold (if I were to DD it). From what I've read wind buffeting is an issue with the top retracted. I'll do some test drives once the weather warms up.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2018 4:03 pmThe RF is way better looking, but that's just, like my opinion man.

I'm guessing that side/rear visibility blows in the RF. Dunno how much, if any, worse it is than the regular car with the top up4zilch wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2018 4:18 pmI agree. I usually had the top down in the MR2 in all weather just so that I could see what's around me.

Blind spot is an issue due to the b-pillar. It’s not really a deal breaker for me though. I used to drive a window-less parts van, before backup cams were a thing.troyguitar wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2018 4:20 pmI'm guessing that side/rear visibility blows in the RF. Greater than 40 mph. Granted statements are from “journalists” so[user not found] wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2018 6:14 pmI wasn't able to confirm this when I drove the RF but I only took it around the block.
Do they say what speeds it occurs at?

I wouldn’t be surprised if it is. Again, even if it does suck, I don’t think poor visibility on its own would keep me from buying one.[user not found] wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2018 6:15 pmDid you sit in one/drive one? It's really a non-issue. I was surprised at the visibility because I had the same concern.
I'd bet the visibility is better in the RF than the soft top verson.
Edit: and no I haven’t sat in one yet.

So.
Needs shocks. Talking to shop in Cali to build something that'll hold up to rallyx.
Going to softer springs also. I have the springs that came with the KWs (514# up front, progressive rear) and am going to try those for a new baseline because it's $0 just the work to swap them. This will happen before shocks are built, of course.
I am also going to finally need new rallyx tires. The Winterforces have been good but are starting to get really chewed up.
I'm thinking hard about downsizing the brakes to fit 15s and rally tires. I have exhausted my research resources for 17s and if I want the car to be competitive, it's what I would have to do. I have to refresh my memory on what I'd need and off what car, but I'm going to look into it for serious again.

This is so awesome.

One of my largest complaints about the Mk4 R32 interior is that there is nowhere to put a damn phone, even a normal size one by today's standards (iPhone 6). I've fiddled with man things before and never been that happy, plus, it was always difficult to route and hide wiring for the iPod adapter that I have routed from the stock amp in the back of the car.
I'm not 5/7 on this finished product, but I'm happy enough.
Pros:
- This thing ain't movin'. I am not worried about it holding up to rallyx and track day duty for data collection.
- Wiring is finally hidden! After years! And there's enough slack that a passenger can sit in the seat and have their phone plugged in
Cons:
- Passenger knee room takes a hit, but when the seat is 50% back or more, it wasn't bad. The plate is easily removable when not in use and there's room in the glove box shelf for it and a phone if it is a problem. In the last photo, the seat is 90% forward and I'm 6' tall.
- Visibility from the driver side is good, but not 5/7. Needs like 10* more of articulation. I might solve this later if I see it as a problem. The iniial test drive was satisfactory.
