Did you experience the herky-jerky low speed throttle problem esp over bumps? That's the only part I don't really like. That and the suspension bounce but the two are pretty intertwined.

I don't really care too much though. Like you said it's fun to get on the car and that's why I bought it. She still does fine in stop and go. Actually IMO it's better in crawling highway bullshit than the GTI was since the gearing is so much shorter it can putt around at a lower speed than the GTI could so there's less clutch action.
I thought the GTI was better in city driving. :iono:

Never had any heat soak issues to speak of and between the small turbo and long stroke :hubba: that car seemed great for my usual commute. The Uni software really helped, it made a ton more torque at low RPM and really had a ton of shove even from 1500 rpm.

The herky-jerky low speed problem is exactly what I was experiencing. We were crawling along, the roads were terrible, and I just could not get the thing to drive smoothly. I think a lot of it has to do with the LSDs. Hit a bump with one and not the other, the wheel speed wants to be different between L/R or front to back and it upsets the car. Happens in my parking garage every day when the left side goes over the hump between levels. If I don't clutch-in it'll about catapult into the elevators.

It'll do 27 on the highway doe.
The lowest my truck has ever indicated is 17mpg. But I've never driven it fully in the city. It's almost a perfect 50/50 mix city/hwy.

What I've noticed is the herky-jerky is related more to the stupidly sensitive throttle. If I brace myself in the seat so I don't move around and give my leg more stability it won't do it over bumps. You just get used to the rest of it and train your foot to be very very light on the pedal.

Interesting on the LSD part. The only time I notice the LSD is when I make a hard 90 degree turn at some speed and get back on the power, I feel the car kind of shudder while the central LSD locks. I kind of like that though. But if you select Auto(-) it seems to do it less.

Racecar doe. I expected most of this. I didn't quite expect the surging over bumps thing which is annoying but that's basically my only real complaint with this car.

No way mine will do 27 highway unless it's 60mph 2 lane country roads for a whole tank. At 77-78 I'm getting 21-22mpg. Best full tank I've recorded so far is 21.4mpg. :disappoint: Worst is 16.3.

PA freeways have lower speed limits.

I-76 and I-476 are 50 MPH near center city and go up to 55 MPH outside the city
IIRC, I-95 is 65 MPH
PA highways max out at 70 MPH on the turnpike

I much prefer hanging out in the right lane on the highway. Lots of unnecessary tailgating and bullshit in the left lane with braking harder and that sort of thing. Plus it's hardly ever faster to be in the left lane around here anyway. So I :aintcare: cruise in the right lane which usually means I'm going around 60. Bonus points that I won't get pulled over for speeding or anything.

Ha, crazy. It's like the Indy 500 here every damn day. The ring road around the city has a 55mph limit, but if you're not doing at least 70 you're getting run the fuck over. :lolol:

Yeah.
There are some pretty sound reasons for it being so low though. I-76 for example doesn't conform to the US highway code, it's too narrow, doesn't have sufficient emergency lane width, exit and entry ramps are too short, some with 15 MPH suggested speeds due to hard turns on them, left exits and entries exist in places, and it curves pretty hard through some bridge and building abutments.

Just the nature of adding a highway to a very dense urban area.

The 70 MPH thing on the turnpike is a recent one too. It used to be 65. There's no goddamn reason for that.

I hate that about Indy. I've driven there many times, and am completely paranoid the entire time. Speed limit 55, yet traffic does 75 minimum. Epic speed trap?

At least in Detroit, it's just 65 or 70 everywhere. People do like 80+ on most highways and you won't get nailed until you get north of 90.

Was going to say the same thing. Traffic flies into and out of downtown Detroit and seemed way more hectic to me than driving in Indy.

On my local highways people usually cruise at 60-70, if the limit is 55. Very fewer do 75+. I usually put the cruise to 72-73.

Yep. 75, 94, 96, lodge, Southfield, etc. are all 55 in/near the city and no one slows down at all.

When I used to commute to Wayne state I would regularly be going 85 in a 55 while in the slow lane with people flying past me at 100+

Speed limits out west are way better across the board, but they're newer roads, more open space, fewer people in most areas compared to the North East.

I-76 is a winding noddle of failure. Tight turns, pathetic shoulder, super short onramps, etc. It had to be built that way because most of the land was taken by the time the national highway system was conceived. It's a very different case out west where you generally have longer sweeping turns, banked roads, emergency lanes, long onramps for acceleration, etc. Lower speed limits are appropriate up here on most roads.

Don't forget its awesome flooding feature. Also its always a parking lot so they could have set the speed limit to 20 and it still would be appropriate
