Friday 11am update:
Nigerian Is likely without insurance...
They can't get a hold of him and running the plates revealed that he had no coverage or expired coverage.
Good thing I called the cops... When I was leaving they were still questioning him (3 cops).
Like YOU CAN'T EVEN REGISTER A CAR IN CALIFORNIA WITHOUT INSURANCE. And yet... this mfker creamed me and another dude.
The part is... if he is in fact without insurance I don't pay a deductible.

AFAIK you can't register a car anywhere in the country without insurance, but all it takes is a credit card with a $500 limit to buy insurance for a day. Go get your registration, then cancel the insurance the next day and you get most of your money back. to the max.

Also I talked about the OEM part BS...
OEM parts are only used on vehicles with less than 12k miles other than that it is whichever parts are available, if they can find a reconditioned bumper for my Fake sport.... that'll be it if not OEM. I am guessing they won't find one.... it isn't a super common part.

I'm surprised the cops let him leave without proof of insurance..max225 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 18, 2017 2:09 pm Friday 11am update:

If they were still questioning him, that means that there was a problem when they ran insurance/reg/whatever info on the guy.max225 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 18, 2017 2:09 pm Friday 11am update:

Sounds like he'll at least lose his license for a year, may have his car impounded, and will face a $300-$700 fine, which is probably what his POS car is worth. Sadly that doesn't help you or the insurance company. They may open a court case against him to get their money back for the repairs (I'd be surprised if they didn't honestly).
But I'd say either way you shouldn't worry about it, this is why you pay for insurance in the first place, to deal with this bullshit.

I am not sure if they did... I left and they were still questioning him. I didn't want to deal with him.SAWCE wrote: ↑Fri Aug 18, 2017 2:24 pmI'm surprised the cops let him leave without proof of insurance..max225 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 18, 2017 2:09 pm Friday 11am update:

I basically opt to call the cops every time. Even if I can get legit information from the person. But especially in a case like this, where he's not offering up any information at all.max225 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 18, 2017 2:42 pmthat's why I called the cops... I bet they impounded the car since it was a 2-car hit, and took him to the precinct so someone could come get him / he could get a bus back to wherever his poor ass lives.

It really depends on the accident... sometimes cops don't show etc... if it is clear cut it is far simpler... I have been in a few accidents in my life... This is the first time I've had a person that was uninsured and not admit guilt.
You're going through your own insurance though right? You didn't have rental coverage?

The person that doesn't know the difference between an M sport and a 335 and the various bumpers, labeled my car as "blue" vs estoril blue... said 1 week. So I am assuming closer to 2.
