1. sachs clutch kit ordered last night. has to verify which flywheel i had to get correct clutch. it should be here friday.

2. there is no DMF. its a solid flywheel found on the IS models. The 89 IS swap checks out as all components have been correct.

3. going to check out throw out bearing too. Although that gets replaced with the clutch kit.

pilot bearing =/= throwout bearing.
so remove flywheel and replace it?

I dont think it requires removal of the flywheel. But i dont think thats your issue. But, its cheap and easy to fix while in there.

throw out bearing and pilot bearing are both included in the sachs clutch kit.

Yeah, you can get it out with a slide hammer, IIRC.

That's how I did the C5. Worked great.

You normally don't have to remove the flywheel to get it out either.

You also have a BMW, so yes, and 3 special tools are required.

Current carport condition. Wife wants spot back. Shifter shit finally shipped. Throw out bearing had failed. Will see what else is wrong when it's bolted up.

some cereal :rage:

i'll be removing my trans again. Apparently I fucked something up or something it out of place as I have zero resistance on the clutch fork. Which means the throw out bearing likely become unseated as i was trying to stab the trans. Was about ready to fire her up when I re installed the slave. Pedal would stick UP or DOWN and was slighlty springy. Re bleed it. Same. Pull it, I can move clutch fork with near ZERo resistance. My guess it the TO bearing rotated and slipped out of the center of fork.

another day.

update:

shifter is very toight. very notchy now. clutch and all went in when :melon: helped me stab it. I also replaced some aftermarket bullshit like delrin pivot pin with the $3 oem part, for peace of mind. lessoned learned on aftermarket upgrades.

Clutch is really light. Clutch pedal still doesnt return to top of the "dead zone" and seems to operate on the hydro pressure only. the master cyl is on the pedal under dash. that might be a thing to replace for better pedal return. It works but seems to kinda sag in operating range, like the helper spring is dead (but it does have the helper spring and it looks fine) :iono:

i had to remove some coolant lines for access. Of course the last little 2 lines on the alum heater core pipe were kinda gaulded and nasty and slightly out of round. One of the lines wont make a good seal and is a source of a leak. So either replace the core and the "pipes" which are freaking seperate than core, or loop then/plug them. :rage:

so basically it has sat and ive put about 20 miles on it before find the small leak. new hoses and shit have shipped from ecs.

after a few successful runs around, it was time to add AC back. I've sourced lots of parts and even unboxed the new bits like drier and parallel flow condensor and expansion valve.

I've about got it wired up, waiting on a fitting to arrive inthe mail for compressor. I cant find the correct wire for ac clutch engagement. it works with 12v straight but with all sensors jumpered, it would kick on from switch in car. So more wire diagram fun.

oh hai everybody. I will be pulling old stuff from defunct photo bucket and updating my garage thread.

my grom has had some things done. I like it. The e30 is now at :melon: manor. Focusing efforts on rabbit. and will likely officially add the z4m to stable.

rabbit plucked from its 2+3 year resting slumber.

ordered some real trick parts to do Coil Over Plug for spark with megasquirt. pretty exciting stuff, plus sequential injector for if I do anything real ballsy later.

http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.p ... ggers-News***

found out new parts have been developed for an old as engine setup. :fuckyeah:

hopefully the :fax: of old approves.
