New addition to the garage. 2000 Honda XR650R. Checked oil, added fuel, and it started on the first kick....
....after trying in vain to start it with the kill switch engaged

I enjoyed these tires. They're quite sporty.
But bruv. You should have spent $250/tire on Alpin PA4's. Just think of all the children you're going to end up running over.

I surely end up in a ditch, upside down, on fire at the first sign of sub-freezing temps or dusting of snow.
I could see spending the money if I lived in months of snow and ice, but these will be adequate for $90/tire.
We get like 1 legit winter ever 5-7 years. The rest are reasonable.
I do look forward to seeing all the and Broes in ditches because OMG 4X4

#usedbikeproblems
One of joys of owning older things is undoing previous owners half-ass repairs.
Fuel tank on the XR started leaking at the petcock. He had attempted to use whatever this black shit is to seal it - it clearly didn’t work.
Pulled it apart and cleaned it up. It looks like the tank might be cracked at the mounting/seal boss. The petcock o-ring still seals to be in good shape so applied a little grease and put it back together. So far it appears to be holding fuel. I’ll need to replace the petcock screen and drop the bowl on the carb to see if any of this black shit made a it’s way pass. Overall - hoping it’ll hold up, but even if I have to replace the tank, they’re not terribly expensive on fleabay.

Agreed on both counts. The crack is weird, it doesn’t look like it goes all the way through, but if doesn’t leak now, it’ll leak later.

Fuel tank still leaks - exploring ebay replacements.
Other than a few laps around the neighborhood, I haven’t gotten to ride it. The last of the nice weather was last week and I was out traveling for work.
Laps were fun - mostly just feeling out the bike Engine is 5/7 torque monster for a single. Need to explore some front brake options - needs :moar: initial bite.
I have a list of maintenance/mods to make over the winter. Definitely looking forward to flogging this thing.

Been here a week, already in pieces.
