I've been to Austin pretty often. So if you're planning a vacay there I can chime in with a lot of info.
Other than that, don't plan a vacation to Louisiana. Especially if you hate humidity, floods, and people "dat talk like dat"

My trip to Louisiana was pretty 5/7. Got to gut a house, eat some tendies, sweat my :balls: off, and sample some fine cajun cuisine.

It's all "Laissez les bons temps rouler" until your house floods.

So last day in Jamaica and I take away a new found appreciation for the quality people living in Montego Bay area/Hanover who come to work at this resort. This week has been eye opening and I'd like to say that if you are open minded then Jamaica is THE island to spend time on. It's also nice that the water is drinkable from the faucets, nobody got sick which is a pleasant departure from experiences in Mexico/Dominican and a few other spots we visited.

The "gang" thing isn't really the political issue. It is very much regular citizens of the island standing up to their government's dictator like behaviors. It seems to be quieting down but we stuck to on-resort activities to play it safe.

Highly recommended for open minded people, if you get to know the staff here they are truly 5/7 people.

I went on a little trip to Doha today.
Image

Me and some coworkers decided to go explore some sights and do a little shopping.

First we went to the mall of Qatar because I need shorts. We ate at a Greek restaurant that was delicious. I had a basil based taziki (sp?) sauce for my gyro.
Image

Then we went to the souqs for some pearl and hand made lamp shopping. I didn’t buy anything but Turkish coffee and some Mediterranean food for dinner. A little lamb, steak, and chicken with grilled veggies and delicious hummus. We also saw the Emir’s horses and camels.

After that we went to a different mall that has a grocery store so we could get more hummus to take back to base. They were out :rage:

Finally home after walking 10 miles and seeing plenty of sights. I’ll be going out again in a few weeks. Might see some more sights then.

It was delicious. Everything cooked perfectly and seasoned well. I have enjoyed every meal off base when I "deploy" here.
