To answer the questions about 4x4. I didn't truly need it except on two sharp uphill turns.
But I needed the ground clearance and side wall as well as big ass tires and truck suspension.

Ironically the tires actually prevented us from going to the racetrack ....
They usually recommend 2 spares on the way there and the fuel max tires didn't provide much confidence to put up with sharp rocks. I was getting flashbacks to my wrangler popped tire experience

I also couldn't make it to one of the canyons because the burban didn't have enough clearance to go over some bigger rocks.

With no engine protection underneath... I played it safe
