How much you weigh? Your bike felt smooth and fast. I couldn't gauge the jump ability because I ride Crank Bros pedals. Felt pretty sweet though.fledonfoot wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2017 10:05 amMaybe I've done it wrongJohnny_P wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2017 9:50 am
Yeah it's interesting because most things I can find online suggest that the shorter travel bikes give you a better platform for hopping and chucking it over things. Whereas the longer travel bikes sit more into their travel, and you have to overcome that to get it over the obstacle. My test ride years ago with the 5010 didn't lead me to believhttp://www.datforumdoe.com/forum/e that one bit, but then again that bike is known to be super playful. That bike was gloss orange and yellow
I've set it up with the correct amount of sag and a hair on the low side with pressures in the fork and shock, but i run the rebound slightly quicker so I can keep it feeling a little more alive.

The next closest dealer is in Lancaster. When I called about these, the dude at Community said he could order me one but didn't have any in stock, no demos, no nothing in the area. So fork out basically $4k and "I promise you'll love it." That's the same line were giving regarding WRX's years ago.
I have no idea why the bike industry is like this. Especially at the price points of new bikes anymore.

Yeah same weight. Honestly I wouldn't change anything about how you had your bike set up. Rebound felt right, it wasn't bouncing off line or anything.

Yeah, I have it pretty well dialed in at this point. I think I want a dropper at some point, and I need to replace at least the front tire with something that has a little more grip on the transition area.
If a deal on a set of XT M8000 brakes shows up I might jump on those and swap the SLX stuff over to wifey's bike.

Your bike would be awesome with a Purgatory up front. I like my NN, but it's a little shallow for truly hard riding.

Talked about it with GF last night. Hard decision is hard. It's a great bike for sure. The matte black, decals, etc aren't exactly my personal cup of tea, and that matters. IDK. Part of the stoke of MTB'ing, for me, is looking at your rig and getting excited about it before the ride.Apex wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2017 11:01 amHe's ridden, he's liked, they're within :wasteful: budget... I finally made the decision to ride at like 1:30 on Sunday. So got out at 2-ish, was too dark for the woods around 3:45. Not a long ride at all, especially considering the 12 miles round trip to get to the trails, but it was a good call overall.[user not found] wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2017 1:06 pmYeah, I was all about riding this weekend since the initial forecast was for near 40 degree temps, so I planned other things.
Ended up being in the low 50s... could've totally ridden.
Tights
Long sleeve base layer
Short sleeve jersey
Vest
Neck scruff
Long finger gloves
Wool socks
Seemed to do the trick for 45 degrees, and could have handled a bit lower. I'm gonna need some warmer gloves though. Saw Handup has some winter gloves now... might pick up a pair.

Is it this one?[user not found] wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2017 1:29 pmIt requires being in the right gear and having the right legs.
Gotta downshift, spin up the diesel engine to about 3k RPM and never give up.

Or pull a Gberg... pedal like crazy, and the second it ramps to go up hill, wash the front wheel out, faceplant and tackle the ground full on with the shoulder.[user not found] wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2017 1:29 pmIt requires being in the right gear and having the right legs.
